BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GE OR GET TEW That Sections 5 and 5A of that certain ordinance of the said City that regulates they handling of volatile or explosive liquids and that was passed and approved on -the 10th day of 1"'ebruary ,. L. 1,Q40, and the 2'th day of April, 1950, shall hereafter read as follows: Sectio. 5. Storage tanks and pumps regulated: Only underground tanks shall be used for the stowage: of gasoline at filling stations, and the said tanks and appliances shall. be placed entirely within the property lines of the premises. That no tank shall be installed at any retail fil« ling station or private plant with a capacity greater than. 2,000 Two i Thousand) gallons; and only one tank shall be permitted for each purup in service. That the totalcombined capacity of all of the tanks at any one retail filling stat, on shall not exceed' 5,0Wi(Five Thousand gallons and combined capacity not to exceed 2,0+00 gallons at any private plant. .All of such tanks shall be'laboled shoring "Underwriter's Laboratories Approved Tank". Gasoline shall be drawn from underground storage tanks only through openings in the top thereof and only by means of pumps, bearing the: approval of the National Board of Underlrrritc rs. All such pumps and apparatus shall be placed inside the property lines, and so placed 'tha.t it will be impractical to serge rotor vehicles therefrom while such vehicles are standing on any p art of any sidewalk, street, or alley of said City. No pump shall be used other than one that has been approved by the Undorr'idw.iters Laboratories,, Inc., for such use. :All such pumps shall, be tested, examined, approved and sealed by the Cit; Plumbing Inspector of the City of Georgetown, Texas, before being placed in service. Section a'A. That no truck, hauling gasoline, that has a, carrying capacity of over 1,400 (Fourteen riundred gallons shall hereafter be per~ witted to deliver gasoline, therefrom to any filling station, private plant or to any tank used by any filling station or private plant distributing gasoline therefrom within said city. That each truck used gasoline or other volatile or explosive liquids are transp livered, within the said City, shall carry such gasoline, or gather explosive liquids, in a tank thereon suitable for that such tanks shall be made of not less than twelve gauge or by which , other volatile, N : x vanize steel,* or at least one-fourth inch black open hearth tank steel; a d that such tank shall be equipped with outlet faucets of the antidrip pproved self" closing type; and also must be equipped with automatic chec4X valves for safety in the event of mechanical injury to the outlet faucets, and said tank and equipment shall have been approved by and shall bear the label of approval of the National Board of Fire. Underurriters • That other than as here amended, all of the said ordi once that is hereby being amended, shall be and remain in full force and effect and that:this amendment shall be considered as a part of the original ordnance and amend" men.ts pass thereto. That if any word, sentence, clause:, or paragraph of this amendment be declared to be void, the said void portion hereof shall not effect the validity of all of the remaining portions hereof. 'he fact that the matters covered hereby are of mate ial importance, creates an emergency, making it necessary that the rules rewiring that ordinance be read at three separate rneetings be suspended aid the said rules are here and now suspended, and this ordinance is at once pssed, and it is ordered that it take effect from and after its passage, Passed and approved this the 14th, day of . pri'' , v ayor, MY of e lrFetown.
