HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 05.10.1937 - Railroad Speeds in City'May l0s1 An Ordinance of the City of Georgetown, Texas, fixing the limit of the rate of speed at which railroad engines and railroad trains may be operated within the corporate limits of said City and fixing a penalty for its violation, and declaring an emergency. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas'* That it shall herea.f'ter be unlawful for any railroad train or any railroad engine to be operated at a rate of speed greater than 20 wiles an hour, while beim run or operated within she corporate limits of said itye That any en ineer, conductor, or other person running or operating any such engine or train, who shall run or operate within the corporate limits of said City at a rate of sped greater than that above set out shall be deemed guilty of a violation of this ordinance and upon conviction therefor shall be fined in any suxri not to exceed ten ($10.00) dollars. That the fact that there is no reasonable and adequate ordinance limiting speed of railroad engines and trains within. said City creates an emergency and it is therefore further ordained that the rules be suspended and that this ordinance at once pass and that it take effect from and after its passage and publication.
