HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 02.12.1951 - Comply Provisions Art. 977 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOMIN, TEXAS, COMPLYING WITH THE PROVISIONS OF ART. 977, OF VERNON' CIVIL STATUTES OF TEXAS, AS AMENDED BY THE ACTS OF 1949s 51st, LEG. p. 375, ch.. 199, BY PROVIDING 7iE MANNER BY WHICH THE OFFICERS OF THE SAID CITY SHALL HEREAFTER BE CHOSEN, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOIAN, TEXAS: That,, pursuant to the provisions of art. 977, of Vernons Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended by the Acts of 1949, 51st Legislature, p. 375, ch. 199, it is hereby provided that from and 1 after the passage and publication of this ordinance that the Mayor o the said City and the Aldermen of the said City shall be elected by the qualified voters of the said City,, at the time and in the manner hereto- fore provided by law, or that may hereafter be provided by law• That all of the remaining officers of the said City, shall be appointed by the Payor of said City with the confirmation and approval of the City Council. That this ordinance shall repeal such other ordinances as may be in direct conflictordinances and parts of ordinancer that are not in conflict herewith shall be and remain in full force and effect® That the fact that it is necessary that the mode by 'which officers of this City are selected must be settled, creates an emergency, making separate meetings before final passages be suspended, and the said rules are here and now suspended, and this ordinance is at once passed* ftssed and approved this the 19t4 day of February 1951* .Attest City Secretary, City of Georgetown,, Texas .
