HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2005-15 - Renaming StreetsORDINANCE i AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS; RENAMING "ASHBERRY DRIVE" TO "ASHBERRY TRAIL"; RENAMING "MONTEL DR" TO "MONTELL DR" REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS; INCLUDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on May 9, 2000, the City addressing and street naming policyfor the City, adopted an ordinance establishing a uniform WHEREAS, On August 22, 2002 The Georgetown City Council approved the preliminaryplat for University Park — Unit Two, Section One, Phase B. WHEREAS, due to a scrivener's error on a street type suffix on the recorded plat of University Park — Unit Two, Section One, Phase B, the continued use of the name "Ashberry Drive" on that portion of the road is inconsistent with the City's street naming policy; WHEREAS, On March 23, 1999 The Georgetown City Council approved the preliminary plat for Escalera Ranch — Section Two. WHEREAS, due to a scrivener's error on a street root name on the recorded plat of Escalera Ranch — Section 2, the continued use of the name "Monte) Drive" on that portion of the road is inconsistent with the Citys street naming policy, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown finds that it is in the public's best interest to resolve these inconsistencies by assigning names to the subject streets in a manner consistent with the Citys street naming policy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this ordinance implements the Transportation Element of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states: "Georgetown's transportation system provides for the safe and efficient movement of traffic, promotes the economic interests of the community, and adequately serves the needs of individuals'; and further finds that the enactment of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. SECTION 2. The name of the street shown as "Ashberry Drive" on the recorded plat of University Park — Unit Two, Section One, Phase B (recorded in Cabinet Z, slides 187-189 of the Plat Records of Williamson County, Texas) is hereby changed to "Ashberry Trail". SECTION 3. The name of the street shown as "Monte) Drive" on the recorded plat of Escalera Ranch — Section Two (recorded in Cabinet U, slides 188-192 of the Plat Records of Williamson County, Texas) is hereby changed to "Montell Drive". All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect. SECTION 5. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. SECTION 6. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary to attest. This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Georgetown.
