AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,
TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE 2006 -119, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND
DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN SPECIAL
ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 2006; AND PROVIDING FOR EMERGENCY
PASSAGE.
WHEREAS, on November 15, 2006, the City Council of the City of Georgetown
canvassed the results of the November 7, 2006 Election, for the purpose of seeking voter
response to the question of renewing the increase in the sales tax in the City of Georgetown by
one - quarter (1/4) of one percent for road maintenance purposes pursuant to Chapter 327 of the
Texas Tax Code.
WHEREAS, based on the information provided to the city from the Elections
Administrator on November 14, 2006, the proposition received the following votes:
The reauthorization of the local sales and use tax in the City of Georgetown, Texas, at
the rate of one- fourth of one percent to continue providing revenue for maintenance and
repair of municipal streets.

WHEREAS, on November 20, 2006, the Office of the Elections Administrator provided
the City with a revised Summary Report which showed revisions to the total number of votes
cast, but which did not change the outcome of the Election, as follows:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GEORGETOWN TEXAS, that:
SECTION I.
The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and
declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a
part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this ordinance implements
Policy Statement 14.0, which states: "a high level of cooperation and involvement exists among

Georgetown's citizens and governmental organizations," and has found that this action is not
inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the

SECTION IV.
It is further found and determined that in accordance with the order of this governing body, the
City Secretary posted written notice of the date, place and subject of this meeting on the bulletin
board located outside of the City Hall, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general
public, and said notice was posted and remained posted continuously for at least 72 hours
preceding the scheduled time of the meeting. A copy of the posting shall be attached to the
minutes of this meeting and shall be made a part thereof for all intents and purposes.

We, the undersigned officials of the City of Georgetown, Texas, hereby Certify as
follows:
The Canvass Committee of the City Council of the City of Georgetown convened in a
SPECIAL MEETING ON THE 15'h DAY OF NOVEMBER, 2006, at the City Council
Chamber, and roll was called of the City Council Members of the City of Georgetown,
to wit:
Patty Eason, Councilmember District 1
Gabe Sansing, Councilmember District 2
Doug Smith, Councilmember District 3
Henry Carr, Councilmember District 4
Pat Berryman, Councilmember District 5
Farley Snell, Councilmember District 6
Ben Oliver, Councilmember District 7
At least five of the foregoing persons were present, thus constituting a quorum. After
consideration of the media report provided by the Williamson County Elections
Administrator compared with the Official Tabulation to be placed in the City of
Georgetown Election Register, the Canvassing Committee recommended acceptance
of the canvass.
Ordinance No.- 066j4(o , being an "Ordinance of the City Council of the City of
Georgetown, Texas, Amending Ordinance No. 2006 -119 Canvassing the Returns and
Declaring the Results of the City of Georgetown Special Election Held on November 7,
2006," was introduced for consideration by the City Council,

prescribed by the City of Georgetown City Charter, it was duly moved and
seconded that the foregoing Ordinance be approved and adopted, said
motion prevailed and carried by the following vote:

described above is attached to and follows this Certificate. The Ordinance
has been duly recorded in the minutes of the City Council, and the above
