HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2012-44 - Council Compensation*`RDINANCE NO.010 , { AN ORDINANCE OF COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN,i OF CODE OF ORDINANCES RELATING TO COMPENSATION OR EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT FOR • • AND COUNCILMEMBERS& WHEREAS, Section 2.15 of the City Charter provides for the appointment of a committee to review at least every two years the salaries of the Mayor and Council members and to make recommendations regarding those salaries; and WHEREAS, on March 27, 2012, pursuant to Section 2.15 of the City Charter, the Mayor appointed a compensation committee to review the current compensation ordinance and make recommendations to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the 2012 Compensation Committee met on April 4, 2012 and April 18, 2012; and WHEREAS, the 2012 Compensation Committee presented its report to the City Council on May 8, 2012, attached to this Ordinance as Exhibit A; and WHEREAS, on May 8, 2012, the City Council voted to enact the 2012 Compensation Committee's recommendations; and NOW, • BE IT ORDAINE3F' GEORGETOWN,, I: T�':�a:�ii��ZiTilil►CilRi]`��I�iT�Zif Section 1. The meeting at which this ordinance was approved was in all things conducted in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551. Section 2. Chapter 2.16 of the Code of Ordinances is amended as follows: r.TITTIOnrelm Ordinance Number: 0%1C Date Approved: June 26, 2012 (A) The Mayor shall receive compensation of $550 per month. (B) The Mayor Pro Tem shall receive compensation of $400 per month. (C) The Council members shall receive compensation of $400 per month. Section 3. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. Section 4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary to attest.
