Council Present: ,,CouncilAbsent: Patty Eason, Gabe Sansing, Doug Smith, Jack ';District 7 vacant Noble, John Kirby, Farley Snell Staff Present: -- Paul Brandenburg, City Manager; Trish Carls, City Attorney; Sandra Lee, City Secretary; Tom Yantis, Assistant City Manager; Micki Rundell, Director of Finance and Administration; Dennis Schoenborn, Director of Information Technology Called to order at 4:00 p.m. A Information Technology Division Overview Assistant City Manager Tom Yantis noted to Council that information technology is a rapidly -changing innovation, and he wanted to give Council an update on the technology at the City. He introduced Dennis Schoenborn, Director of Information Technology. Schoenborn said that all parts of the City affect the Information Technology Division, including computers and phones, and all divisions of the City receive support for Desk Top, Network, and System Support operations. There were questions and comments from the Council, particulary about the Voice Over IP Telephone System and the "time-out" segment of the Lotus Notes email program. Schoenborn noted to Council that the City has recently tripled the band width which allows a little faster use of the email system, and Yantis explained that the City will upgrade the Lotus Notes System this year. There was also discussion regarding wireless capability and the possibility of providing laptop computers to councilmembers. Schoenborn talked to Council about disaster recovery for data and voice programs. He said the City currently has four buildings with wireless capability. Yantis noted that the City system is very secure against virus attacks. There was discussion and it was noted that the replacement program for personal computers is three years. Schoenborn discussed with Council the reliability of the "tough books" purchased for the Police Patrol units, saying it is planned to add additional units in this budget year. He explained the need for more security for the data center.
