HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 08.23.2004 CC-RThe City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met in Regular Session on the above date with Mayor Gary Nelon presiding. „Council Present: !!Council Absent:- IPatty Eason, Gabe Sansing, Doug Smith, Henry All Council Present ;Carr, John Kirby, Farley Snell, Ben Oliver �I Staff Present: Paul Brandenburg, City Manager; Tom Yantis, Assistant City Manager; Trish Carls, City Attorney; Sandra i Lee, City Secretary; Keith Hutchinson, Public Information Officer; Mrk Thomas, Economic Development Director; Micki Rundell, Director of Finance and Administration; Laurie Brewer, Controller; Rachel Osgood, Key Account Manager Policy Development/Review Workshop A Presentation regarding "Williamson County Present and Future,” a "State of the County" presentation with information on County government, the progress of bond projects, construction projects, the budget, and demographics -- Paul Brandenburg Connie Watson, Public Information Officer for Williamson County, and David Flores, County Controller, did a slide presentation for the Council regarding an update on County government. It was announced that the County is raising the property tax from 48 to 51 cents per hundred dollars valuation. B Discussion regarding Branding Program status - Tom Yantis, Assistant City Manager Yantis told Council that a contract has been negotiated and executed with GX Creative Graphics. He listed the members of the Steering Committee, and said they have been meeting weekly. He said they plan to do a series of professionally -facilitated community visioning workshops, and a task force will be established to accept the input from the workshops and develop a consensus to create a "brand." He said that information will also be used to move forward on the Comprehensive Plan for the City. He said GX will do some surveying to "target' markets, such as tourists, citizens, and businesses. There were questions from the Council. Oliver asked and Yantis responded that the "brand" should be ready by the early part of the new year. 4:26 p.m. -- recessed to Executive Session Executive Session In compliance with the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 551, Government Code, Vernon's Texas Codes, Annotated, the items listed below will be discussed in closed session and are subject to action in the regular session that follows.
