Council Present: a Council Absent: Patty Eason, Gabe Sansing, Doug Smith, Henry I Mayor Gary Nelon Carr, John Kirby, Farley Snell, Ben Oliver Staff Present: j Paul Brandenburg, City Manager; Patricia Carls, City Attorney; Sandra Lee, City Secretary; Tom Yantis, Assistant City Manager; Jim Briggs, Assistant City Manager for Utility Operations; Terri Calhoun, Paralegal11 Called to order at 4:03 PM A Williamson County Conservation (Karst) Foundation Update Alan Glenn, Attorney for the Conservation Foundation, introduced Connie Watson, Williamson County Public Information Officer, and his colleague, David Hartman. Hartman gave a slide presentation on the highlights of the Regional Habitat Conservation Plan, saying they are grateful for a $1 million grant from the federal government and there is a $335,000 required local match. He thanked Council for providing seed money that will assist in getting the plan developed and implemented. He noted that Williamson County contains five endangered species and 17+ rare animal/plant species. He said that the Board was appointed by the Williamson County Commissioners and noted Georgetown Councilmember Patty Eason is a member of the Board. He spoke about the benefits of the process, including that the process honors good land stewardship and voluntary, incentive/economic-based approaches to conservation. There were questions from the Council. Snell confirmed that the implementation of this plan will be of great assistance to private and government developers. Eason noted the favorable support from state and federal government officials.
