Carls, City Attorney; Sandra D. Lee, City Secretary; Randy Morrow, Director of Community Services; Kimberly Garrett, Assistant Director of Recreation and Called to order at 4:00 PM A Joint Workshop with the Georgetown Independent School District Board of Trustees regarding the stadium lease with the City of Georgetown. Mayor Nelon called on City Manager Brandenburg to give a brief history on the stadium lease. He noted that the City is willing to work with the School Board no matter what the outcome of the election might be. He noted that the lease is for where the stadium sits, and doesn't include any of the parking. Supt. Joe Dan Lee and Boardmembers Art Dela Cruz, Brad Smith, and Bill Sattler were in attendance. Supt. Lee said the Board wants to make a clear understanding of their relationship with the City, specifically regarding the stadium lease. He said he wants to clarify that the City is willing to lease that property to the school district for whatever time is needed. Mayor Nelon said he is hopeful that the building of the new stadium will coincide with the expansion of the City Recreation Center and parking because it would be difficult for both the City and the School District to utilize the same parking area. Lee said he feels it would be logical for the school district not to spend more money in the current area, but to plan on building a new stadium at the current high school area. Smith and Oliver said they feel that working with the school district is intended to be for the near three to four years, but not long-term. Lee expressed his appreciation to the City for their agreement and support. B Garey Park Master Plan Update Morrow introduced Philip Wanke with Hail Bargainer. Using an overhead display, Wanke, gave Council an overview of the work that has been done at this point regarding the planning for Garey Park. He said it is planned to look at this park from a regional perspective. He said his firm is asking the stakeholders what is important to them about this park. The majority of response is that it should not be intended for sports because of the beauty of the land and the desire not to disturb the beauty to build fields and courts. He said the majority of the responses were for equestrian trails, garden clubs, educational benefits regarding eco systems, playscape, camping, corporate retreats and meetings, weddings, gatherings, art organizations, city meetings, family reunions, public art exhibits, and an ampitheatre. Wanke shared City Council Meeting Minutes/October 24, 2005 Page 1 of 2 Pages response statistics of a recent survey and noted Council would also be invited to participate in responses to the survey.
