The City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met in Regular Session on the above date with Mayor Leo Wood presiding. Council Present: George Arroyos Lee Bain Susan Hoyt Ferd Tonn Dick Vincent Staff Present: Bob Hart, City Manager Marianne Banks, City Attorney Sandra D. Lee, City Secretary Ed Barry, Dir.of Development Services. Hartley Sappington, Dir. of Community Svcs. Elizabeth Gray, Dir. of Information. Svcs. Council Absent: Charles "Hoss" Burson Shelley Pierre Davis Murray Blackman, Asst. to City Mgr.. Hildy Kingma, Chief Planner Clyde von Rosenberg, Chief Planner Regular Session - 5:30 p.m. A Mayor, Council, City Manager, and staff comments and reports Council Budget Retreat -Thursday, May 29 through Saturday, May 31, 1997 Hart reminded Council of the upcoming retreat. Proclamation for Public Servant Recognition Week - May 5 -May 11, 1997 Mayor Wood read the proclamation and presented it to Bobby Sieferman of the American Society of Public Administrators. B Citizens wishing to address the Council There were no citizens who wished to address the Council. Regular Agenda C Consideration of approval of an ordinance canvassing the votes for the May 3, 1997 General Election and declaring the election results to be official --Emergency Reading/Sandra Lee Wood appointed Tonn and Hoyt as the canvassing committee. After comparing the election returns with the posted results, Tonn and Hoyt declared the results of the election to be true and correct. Motion by Tonn, second by Hoyt to approve the ordinance on emergency reading declaring the results official. Approved 5-0. (Burson and Davis absent) City Council Agenda/May 6, 1997 Page 1 of 2 Pages D Comments by outgc Councilmembers Arroyos thanked everyone for their support during his term of office. Vincent highlighted some of the experiences while he was on the Council and praised the voters for the high turnout from his District at the election.. E Swearing in new Councilmembers/Sandra Lee Barton was sworn in by Lee. Valdez was sworn in by Justice of the Peace Jim Bitz. F Comments by incoming Councilmembers Barton thanked his supporters and said he was looking forward to representing his district and working with the Council. Valdez, who ran unopposed, said he was glad to be representing his district on the City Council again.
