HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 10.21.1997 CC-SThe City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met in Special Session on the above date with Mayor Leo Wood presiding. Council Present: Ferd Tonn Charlie Barton Charles "Ross" Burson Susan Hoyt Lorenzo "Shorty" Valdez Staff Present: Bob Hart; City Manager Sandra Lee, City Secretary Council Absent: ,Shelley Davis Lee Bain Clyde von Rosenberg, Chief Planner Regular Session - called to order at 5:32 p.m. Public Hearing A Public Hearing on annexation of: the Pleasant Valley Subdivision, Hartman Acres Subdivision, and adjacent properties, approximately 78 acres located off of FM1460, and the Raintree Subdivision and an adjacent property, approximately 82 acres located off of Southwestern Boulevard/CRI 10 -- Clyde von Rosenberg and Ed Barry von Rosenberg told Council that several meetings have been held with the residents of the areas to be annexed. Drainage problems in Pleasant Valley were discussed, along with various solutions. Hart explained that the problems lie with the runoff from adjacent properties. It was determined that the analysis of the drainage issues would continue and a solution would be included in the Capital Improvements Budget for next fiscal year. von Rosenberg told Council that the residents of the Raintree Subdivision would like a City park developed on a specific vacant lot in the subdivision. It was discussed that the City would need to acquire the property and budget for the recreation equipment. There was discussion from the audience regarding a homeowner's association that is no longer operating, and questioning the liability for the homeowners if a park were developed. Larvin Jefferson, 307 Raintree Drive, told Council that he would be pleased to be annexed into the City and would like to see the park developed, street lighting, and stop signs. He asked to know which Councihnember would represent the newly annexed area. It was determined that Raintree would be represented by Tonn, and Pleasant Valley by Valdez. He also asked that the street signs in Georgetown on Martin Luther King Boulevard be corrected to designate Martin Luther King, "Jr." He noted that the City offices that are City Council Minutes/October 21, 1997 Page 1 of 2 Pages located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard would need to correct their office stationery and business cards, as well. There also was discussion from the audience regarding a "group" home in the Raintree Subdivision. Legislative Regular Agenda Council will individually consider and possibly take action on any or all of the following items: (Council may, at any time, recess the Regular Session to convene in Executive Session at the request of the Mayor, a Councilmember, or the City Manager.) B Consideration of a resohition granting a petition for the annexation into the City of approximately 0.325 acres of roadway and associated improvements, operated and maintained by Williamson County, known as a portion of Sequoia Spur, located between the western boundary of the Serenada West Section Two Subdivision and the eastern boundary of the right-of-way line of RM2338 -- Clyde von Rosenberg and Ed Barry von Rosenberg explained this this area to be annexed is an unplatted portion of the roadway between Serenada West and RM2338, adjacent to the Campbell Tract. He read the resolution. Motion by Tonn, second by Valdez to approve the resolution. Approved 5-0.
