Reg,ular Session --Called to order 5:40 p.m.
Public Hearing
For annexation of: (1) a property owned by Pottery and More, Inc. and located at the southeast corner of
Westinghouse Road and IH35; and (2) a property owned by Claris Shell and Stephen Shell, known as Katy
Crossing, and located south of FM971 near its intersection with CRI 51A
Wood opened the public hearing and asked von Rosenberg to explain the purpose. von Rosenberg
explained that this was the second of two hearings required by state law before initiation of
annexation could begin --the purpose being to describe and receive comments about the City's plans
for providing services to the annexation areas. von Rosenberg listed the services as outlined in the
proposed service plans, and explained that the first reading of the ordinance for annexation would be
on February 28, 1995. Second and final reading is scheduled to take place on March 14. The
ordinance will take effect 10 days after publication.
Wood asked if there were any comments from the public or from the Council. Jim Gross of 306
Norwood, President of the Georgetown Industrial Foundation, spoke in favor of the annexation but
in opposition to the property owned by Pottery and More, Inc. being used for any purpose other than
commercial/industrial because of the previous City expense to extend water lines to that area in order
to develop it for that purpose. Council had no comments.
The public hearing was adjourned at 5:48 p.m.
