Councilmembers Present: Ferd Tonn Mike McMaster Jane Voltz Dick Vincent George Arroyos Doris Curl Staff Present: Sandra Lee, City Secretary Susan Morgan, Dir. of Finance & Admin. Hartley Sappington, Dir. of Community Svcs Larry Hesser, Chief of Police Randy Morrow, Dir. of Parks & Recreation Public Hearing --Called to order at 6:02 p.m. Councilmembers Absent: Winfred Bonner Micki Rundell, Accounting Director Laurie Brewer, Staff Accountant Teresa Hersh, Personnel Director A Council to conduct a public hearing on the proposed tax increase Morgan explained that the increase was due to the debt service for the new Recreation Center and an additional $70,000 needed to be used for street improvements. She explained that the proposed rate of $0.357340/per $100 valuation is "at or below" most other cities in the area. Mayor Wood asked for comments from the audience or Council. There were no comments. Morgan explained that the notice of the impending vote at the next Council Meeting would be in the newspaper in the Sunday Sun. The first reading of the ordinance to levy the new tax rate will be on Tuesday, September 13.
