HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 01.19.1993 CC-SNow up, SWONAS to The City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met in special session on the above date with Mayor Leo Wood presiding. Council Members Present: Ferd Tonn Mike McMaster Doris Curl Bill Shelby Shorty Valdez Jane Voltz Council Members Absent: Winfred Bonner Staff Present: Elizabeth Gray, Acting City Manager/City Secretary Sandra Lee, Deputy City Secretary Brad Stratton, Public Affairs Officer Workshop --Called to Order 5:10 p.m. 930032 Discussion on board and commission appoin ents Mayor Wood restated his recommended appointments and asked Council for discussion. Council was not able to agree with all of the Mayor's recommendations. Each position on each board or commission was discussed. The membership for each board or commission will be included in the Regular Council Agenda for the meeting on January 26. At that time, Council will either vote to accept or reject the Mayor's recommendations. Special Session Regular Agenda - Called to order at 6:25 p.m. 930033 Citizens wishing to address the Council. There were no citizens who wished to address Council at this time. The following Councilmembers and spouses will attend: Mayor Wood, Ferd Tonn, Bill Shelby and Mike McMaster. 930035 Ordinance No. 93-2 canvassing votes for January 16, 1993 Special Election and declaring results official -Emergency Reading/Elizabeth Gray City Secretary Elizabeth Gray read the results of the electron and the returns were examined by each of the Councilmembers present. Ordinance No. 93-2 was read. Motion by McMaster, second by Shelby to approve the ordinance on emergency reading. Approved 6-0. (Bonner absent) 930036 Resolution authorizing the condenmation and acquisition of fee simple title to an approximate .91 acre tract, situated in the William Addison Survey, Abstract No. 21 in Williamson County, Texas, for a utility easement and any other municipal purposesks Elizabeth Gray Gray reminded Council that City Attorney Marianne Banks had told the Council that this land was needed for the electric line to service the Dove Springs Treatment Plant. The owners were not willing to sell or donate the land, so the City needs approval to condemn. Motion by McMaster, second by Voltz to pass the resolution authorizing condemnation. Approved 6-0. Mayor Wood thanked Ferd Torn for his hard work as the Chairman of the Sales Tax Election Committee.
