Briggs gave an overview of the need for a drainage utility in Georgetown and
introduced Alan Woelke of Cramp Dresser McKee, hired by the City to develop
the stormwater utility district.
Briggs explained that the creation of this utility district was initiated due to the
provision in the Century Plan, the impending federal and state regulations and the
need to create revenue to resolve drainage problems.
Mike Barnes of 305 Norwood Drive expressed two concerns. The concerns are
that other cities and the surrounding county should also have to adhere to water
quality regulations, and that cleaner water in the river needs to be encouraged so
that city residents will not have to deal with contamination from other sources,
such as pesticides and other pollutants that may enter the river from points outside
the city limits.
The Hearing was closed at 8:08 p.m.
