G BODY OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS TUESDAY, MAY 7, 1991 The City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas, met in a regular session on the above date with Mayor Bill Connor presiding. Council Members Present: Mike McMaster Barbara Pearce Joe Saegert Bob Schrawger Ferd Tonn Shorty Valdez Winfred Bonner Staff Present: Bob Hart, City Manager Elizabeth Gray, City Secretary Marianne Landers Banks, City Attorney Hartley Sapping, Director of Comm.Svcs. Ed Barry, Director of Development & Planning Glenn Reynolds, Director of Finance SPECIAL SESSION - Called to Order 6:05 p.m. Council Members Absent: 1►�C�Tii� Randy Morrow, Parks & Recreation Director Brad Stratton, Admin. Svcs. Supervisor Donna Rogers Hogg, Legal Assistant Sandra Lee, Staff Asst. to City Manager 910197 Ordinance canvassing votes for the May 4, 1991 General Election and declaring the election results official/ Elizabeth Gray Elizabeth Gray read the ordinance which included the tabulation printed by the ballot counting machine on election night. The ordinance will be corrected to show Mike McMaster as the elected Council Member for District "4" instead of "5". Motion by Pearce, second by Saegert to approve the ordinance as corrected. Approved 7-0. 910198 In the event that a majority is not received in Districts 1 and/or 5, order for a runoff election on May 25, 1991/Elizabeth Gray The runoff election will be held on Saturday, May 18, instead of Saturday, May 25, 1991. A special meeting was called for May 20, 1991, to canvass the runoff election. Motion by Saegert, second by Bonner to approve the resolution with the corrected date. Approved 7-0. Minutes of City Council Meeting/May 7, 1991 Page 1 of 3 910199 Coniments by outgoing Councilmembers Ms. Pearce appreciated the friendships made with fellow Council Members and City Staff over the last four years that she has served on the City Council. She explained that she is very proud of the accomplishments of the past four years and that she has confidence in the City Staff for the future. She thanked the citizens for allowing her to serve as their elected representative, • • • Mayor Connor presented a plaque of appreciation from the City to Barbara Pearce . 910201 Swearing-in of new Councilmembers/Elizabeth Gray= City Secretary Elizabeth Gray conducted the Swearing-in Ceremony for Jane Voltz of District 3 and Mike McMaster of District 4. Being duly sworn, the new Council Members took their seats on the dias. District 4 Incumbent Mike McMaster thanked the voters, his friends and family for their support during the election. He noted that he will miss Barbara Pearce and Joe Saegert and will look forward to continuing the programs and growth of the City. Shorty Valdez congratulated newly elected council members Jane Voltz and Mike McMaster. Mike McMaster gave an update on the youth activity center. The lease agreement was scheduled to be on the agenda of the FDIC Committee in San Antonio today or next Tuesday, possibility of hearing back from them tomorrow. Ferd Torn welcomed Jane Voltz and welcomed back Mike McMaster. Bill Connor announced that the Episcopal Church had officially signed over the old church building. Now its up to the City to determine a site and get the building moved.
