910493 Mayor, Council, City Manager, and staff comments and reports
0 Presentation of certificates to members of the Redistricting Committee
Mayor Connor presented certificates to the members of the committee and
commented that Georgetown is a progressive city achieving many goals
due to the hard work by many people.
0 Information regarding the clean up of Pickett Trail and Blue Hole
Johnny Lacy showed a slide presentation of the park area around Imhoff
Dam over to Highway 29 and announced organized plans to clean that area
of litter and debris, remove some of the overgrowth, and possible
reconstruct some of the paths.

0 Jane Voltz commended Mr. Lacy and said she is looking forward to the clean-
up of that area. She also commented about the fact that this is Red Ribbon Week
celebrating drug-free pledges. Due to the recent tragedy in which a high school
student was killed and another critically injured in two separate incidents
involving alcohol, she suggested that the community take this opportunity to be
active in accepting the challenge to keep the programs working to help alleviate
senseless tragedies caused by drugs and alcohol.

thereDerek reported that the extra staff is needed due to the unexpectedly high turn -out
of young people who attend the Activity Center on a regular basis.
Jane "'T"oltz questioned whether the majority of the young people attending were
junior high -age. Derek feels that the usage is about 50-50, and has planned

910496 • of Ordmiance Advisoryi • assist the Planning and
Zoning Commission in preparing +. ordinance/Ed Barry
Ed Barry told Council that he had received positive suggestions at the special
commission meeting. The Mayor suggested that the Advisory Committee also
include two representatives from the Heritage Society, instead of one, and two
representatives of neighborhood groups (perhaps one from Heart of Georgetown
Civic Club and one from Country Club Estates Civic Group). Mike McMaster
suggested that a sign manufacturer such as Gordon Baker be a member of this
committee so that questions concerning size and legibility of letters could be
addressed by the committee before they report to the Planning and Zoning
Commission. Council agreed that the ordinance should be worded in such a way
that conformity to the regulations would not require necessity for the board to
meet in order to grant approval. It was suggested that a member of the Planning
and Zoning Commission serve as an ex -officio member on the Advisory
Committee, and that the Advisory Committee and the Planning and Zoning
Commission jointly receive the charge from the Council.

prepare the proposed "ends list" for the Council's approval. Bob agreed that he
will have it ready for the November 12th City Council Agenda.
Bob Hart distributed to the Mayor and Council copies of the new City Newsletter
that will be mailed to all city residents on a quarterly basis. Jane Voltz requested
to see a proof of the newsletter before it goes to print next time so that the
Council can have more input. Bob explained that they were anxious to get this
issue out to coincide with Red Ribbon Week, in order to encourage more
community involvement.
The Mayor adjourned the Council Meeting at 8:55 p.m.
