She also commented about the fact that this is Red Ribbon Week celebrating drug-free pledges. Due to the recent tragedy in which a high school student was killed and another critically injured in two separate incidents involving alcohol, she suggested that the community take this opportunity to be active in accepting the challenge to keep the programs working to help alleviate senseless tragedies caused by drugs and alcohol. • 0ti•. The Mayor suggested that the Advisory Committee also include two representatives from the Heritage Society, instead of one, and two representatives of neighborhood groups (perhaps one from Heart of Georgetown Civic Club and one from Country Club Estates Civic Group). Mike McMaster suggested that a sign manufacturer such as Gordon Baker be a member of this committee so that questions concerning size and legibility of letters could be addressed by the committee before they report to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Council agreed that the ordinance should be worded in such a way that conformity to the regulations would not require necessity for the board to meet in order to grant approval. It was suggested that a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission serve as an ex -officio member on the Advisory Committee, and that the Advisory Committee and the Planning and Zoning Commission jointly receive the charge from the Council. Bob agreed that he will have it ready for the November 12th City Council Agenda. Bob Hart distributed to the Mayor and Council copies of the new City Newsletter that will be mailed to all city residents on a quarterly basis. Jane Voltz requested to see a proof of the newsletter before it goes to print next time so that the Council can have more input. Bob explained that they were anxious to get this issue out to coincide with Red Ribbon Week, in order to encourage more community involvement. The Mayor adjourned the Council Meeting at 8:55 p.m. These minutes were compiled by Sandra Lee and reviewed by Elizabeth Gray. Approved: H.
