BOX 409 GEORGETOWN, TEXAS 78626 December 22, 1988 The City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas met in a Special Session on the above date at 5:00 p.m. with Mayor Kennedy presiding. The following members of Council and officials were present: Councilmembers Ercel Brashear, Doak Fling, Luther Laubach, Mike McMaster, and Barbara Pearce; City Secretary, Leta F. Willoughby; Acting City Manager, Hartley Sappington; Chief of Police, Hugh Anderson; Director of Public Utilities, Jim Briggs; and Director of Development and Planning, Ed Barry. SPECIAL MEETING - 5:00 P.M. EXECUTIVE SESSION Executive Session Pursuant to Article 6252-17, Section 2 (g) Personnel, VACS (CERTIFIED AGENDA) Discuss Appointment of City Manager Mayor Kennedy opened the meeting and adjourned into Executive Session at 5:04 p.m. The Mayor reconvened the meeting in open session at 5:27 p.m. A certified agenda for this Executive Session in on file with the City Secretary. Special Agenda: 880416 Consideration of and Possible Action on Appointment of City'' Manager/Mayor Kennedy Mayor Kennedy moved this item to the end of the agenda for discussion. 880417 Request for Release of Letter of Credit for Georgetown Gateway,'' Phase A, Section Z; and Consideration of and Possible Action on Vacating and Amending Plat /John Warden and Ed Barry DISCUSSION FOLLOWED Motion by Councilmember Laubach and Second by Councilmember Pearce to release the letter of credit for Georgetown Gateway and to approve the amended plat. MOTION: LAUBACH SECOND: PEARCE MOTION CARRIED: 12/22/88 UNANIMOUS (csf dec22.min) page 1 of 4 880418 Consideration of and Possible Action on Approving a Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to Execute a Lease/Purchase Agreement for the Purchase of a Radio Communication Console for the Police and Fire Departments and Emergency Operations/Les Bunte DISCUSSION FOLLOWED Motion by Councilmember Fling and Second by Councilmember Brashear to approve Resolution No. 880418. MOTION: FLING SECOND: BRASHEAR MOTION CARRIED: UNANIMOUS RESOLUTION NO. 88 - 0418 A RESOLUTION APPROVING A LEASE/ PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH MOTOROLA COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS, INCO PORATED, FOR THE LEASE/ PURCHASE OF A RADIO COMMUNICATION CONSOLE AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE SAME AND THE CITY SECRETARY TO ATTEST; AND AUTHORIZING FOR FIRST PAYMENT WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas (the "City") deems it necessary and proper and in the best interest of the citizens of Georgetown to acquire a radio communication console system for the Police and Fire Departments and the Emergency Operations Center; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that Motorola Communications and Electronics, Incorporated ("Motorola") has been qualified as a professional in the communications industry; and WHEREAS, Motorola and the City desire to enter into a lease/purchase agreement for the acquisition of a radio communication console; and WHEREAS, the first lease payment of $51,650.00 must accompany the order of the equipment; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN, TEXAS that: SECTION I. The City Council finds that the recitals set forth above are true and correct and are incorporated herein, SECTION II. The City Council approves the lease/purchase agreement between the City and Motorola for the acquisition of a radio communication console system for the Police and Fire Departments and the Emergency Operation Center, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A°P, and incorporated herein as if fully set 12/22/88 (csf dec22.min) page 2 of 4 forth at length. SECTION III. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the lease/purchase agreement with Motorola and the City Secretary to attest. SECTION IV. The City Council hereby authorizes the first lease payment of $51,650.00 to accompany the order of the equipment. 880416 Consideration of and Possible Action on Appointment of City Manager/Mayor Kennedy ADJOURNMENT: TIME: ATTEST: wo Mayor Kennedy makes a statement regarding the process that the City Council has gone through in their search for a city manager for Georgetown. The Mayor expressed his appreciation to the City Council, Staff, Hartley Sappington and Leta Willoughby for their assistance in this search. Motion by Councilmember Pearce and Second by Councilmember Laubach to appoint Bob Hart as City Manager for the City of Georgetown. MOTION: PEARCE SECOND: LAUBACH MOTION CARRIED: UNANIMOUS Mayor Kennedy welcomed Bob Hart to the community and introduced him to the audience.
