The City Council of the City of Georgetown met in Special
Session on the above date at 7:00 P.M. with Mayor Jim Colbert
presiding. The following council members and officials were
present: Council Member Luther Laubach, Council Member Joan
King, Council Member Marvin E. Lackey, Council Member Barbara
Pearce, City Secretary Pat Caballero, City Manager R. Bob
Gaylor, Director of Finance and Administration Gwen Sherman,
Director of Community Services Hartley Sappington, Director
of Public Works Allyn Moore, and Development and Planning
Director Ed Barry. City Council Member Mike McMaster was
absent.
870327. Resolution, Introducing Annexation Ordinances to be enacted by Council,
Randy Stump
Motion by King and second by Lackey to adopt the following
resolution. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
RESOLUTION NO. 870327.000
WHEREAS, the City Council ("Council") of the City of
Georgetown, Texas ("City") may under Section 1.06 of the
Home Rule Charter of said City, annex areas as allowed by
state law; and
WHEREAS,
notices of public
hearings
were published
according
to law in
a newspaper having
general
circulation in
the City
and in
the hereinafter
described
territories to
be annexed
not more
than twenty (20)
days nor less
than ten
(10) days
prior to
those hearings;
and
21st day of July, 1987
and the
WHEREAS, two (2)
public hearing by the Council
were held,
where all interested
persons
were provided
with an
opportunity to be
heard on
the proposed annexation
of
certain territories
described
in those certain
ordinances
hereinafter described,
with
the first hearing
being on the
21st day of July, 1987
and the
second hearing being
on the
28th day of July, 1987; and
WHEREAS, notices of such public hearing were published
according to law in a newspaper having general circulation
in the City and in the hereinafter described territories to be
annexed not more than twenty (20) day nor less than ten (10)
days prior to those hearings; and
WHEREAS, such public hearings were held not more than forty
(40) nor less than (20) days prior to the institution of
these proceedings; and
WHEREAS, the
total
corporate area
of the City on the first day
of January,
1987,
was 6839 acres;
and
WHEREAS, the population of the City includes approximately
16,000 inhabitants;

WHEREAS, that the territories hereinafter described are now
or will be, before the final passage of these ordinances,
adjacent and contiguous to the City, and within the City's
extra -territorial jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the
hereinafter
described
territories are
not
located within
the
incorporated limits
nor extra -territorial
by reference
jurisdiction
of any
other city; and

has received and
certified petitions
