WHEREAS, on Tanuary 24, 2006, the City adopted an ordinance establishing a uniform addressing and street naming policy for the City; and WHEREAS, due to annexation of areas that include portions of CR 265 Right of Way, the continued use of the name "CR 265" on that roadway is inconsistent with the City's street naming policy, WHEREAS, due to the annexation of portions of Airport Rd, the continued use of "Airport Rd" on that portion of road is inconsistent with the City's street naming policy; WHEREAS, the City received a formal request to establish a name for a publicly dedicated alleyway in downtown Georgetown, between W 8th St and W 9th St; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Georgetown finds that it is in the public's best interest to resolve these inconsistencies by assigning names to the subject streets in a manner consistent with the City's street naming policy. GEORGETOWN, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The facts and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are hereby found and declared to be true and correct, and are incorporated by reference herein and expressly made a part hereof, as if copied verbatim. The City Council hereby finds that this ordinance implements the Transportation Element of the Century Plan - Policy Plan Element, which states: "Georgetown's transportation system provides for the safe and efficient movement of traffic, promotes the economic interests of the community, and adequately serves the needs of individuals"; and further finds that the enactment of this ordinance is not inconsistent or in conflict with any other Century Plan Policies, as required by Section 2.03 of the Administrative Chapter of the Policy Plan. Ordinance No. 0Q Changes to Street Names Page 1 of 2 SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Georgetown hereby: a. Renames CR 265 from Simon Rd to River Chase Blvd. Beginning at the 100 Block and continuing through the 900 Block. As illustrated in exhibit A. The new name will be "Memorial Dr" b. Renames the portion of Airport Rd/CR 190 from the intersection of Briarcrest Dr to SH195. Beginning at the 7600 Block and continuing through the 8000 Block. As illustrated in exhibit B. The new name will be `Berry Creek Dr" c. Establish the name "Tin Barn Alley" for a section of publicly dedicated ROW that connects W 81h St to W 9th St in between S Austin Ave and S Rock St. As illustrated in exhibit C. SECTION 3. All ordinances and resolutions, or parts of ordinances and resolutions, in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed, and are no longer of any force and effect. SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance or application thereof to any person or circumstance, shall be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other provisions, or application thereof, of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. SECTION 5. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign this ordinance and the City Secretary to attest. This ordinance shall become effective and be in full force and effect in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Georgetown.
