A Review of Council Policy on Public and Media Relations
Personnel Director Carla Ezell distributed a sample policy from another city and told Council she
does not see a conflict with the policy that they adopted on August 14, 2001. Russell said the
State policy is very similar to that of the City of Georgetown. Lyda suggested retracting the
previously adopted policy because many people have misconstrued the meaning.

Council Houskeeping Items:
(1)
Review/revise workshop schedule;
Rundell asked Council to consider holding a workshop on the November bond election on
September 6, along with the public hearing on the tax rate
(2)
Identification of issues Council would like to have for future workshops;
At Noble's request a workshop was scheduled on Monday, September 10 with Economic
Development Director Charlie Walker for an update on the status of economic development in
Georgetown.
(3)
Discussion of forming a task force for the new comprehensive development ordinance process;
Kersch noted that there is a need to form a committee of citizens with background in the
development area to review the current ordinances and make recommendations. She told Council
there will be an item on the August 28 Agenda to form that task force.
(4)
Use of website to post public information;
Yantis discussed the use of the website and agreed to bring back a reorganization of the website
at a future council meeting. He reported that in July the website received 193,000 hits.
(5)
Discussion of provision of legal services issues
Trish Carls of Brown and Carls distributed copies of her revised contract and reviewed the
revisions with Council. There was much discussion regarding the Council -preferred billing method.
