SPECIAL WORKSHOP OF THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF GEORGETOWN
Monday, March 19, 2007
Georgetown City Council Chamber, 101 E. 7th Street, Georgetown, Texas
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m.
Discussion and possible action on setting the 2007/08 budget priorities.
Rundell distributed on the dais the results of Council's ranking and read the ranking order. There were questions
and statements from the Council. She said the list totals $15.5 million. Council determined that some projects could
move up or down on the ranking, depending on the funding mechanism. Berryman said she would like to see some
moving around of projects in order to move forward the construction of a new bridge over Berry Creek. Rundell said
the CIP is still in development and staff will take that project into consideration. Rundell said she thinks the City will
have more money to use this year than last due to the electric ROI and additional property tax from new property,
and possibly, good sales tax revenue, as well. She said she is under the assumption that there will be no tax
increase. She said there will be an increase but it will be to cover the debt. She asked for ranking of the "write-ins."
Oliver noted the two write-ins were his and were: expand sidewalks in older part of town and develop alternate
strategies for funding/building the bypass route. There was discussion regarding methods of funding batting cages
and a skate park. Rundell noted there will be more workshops pertaining to the budget. Berryman suggested that
the City look into all possible options for funding the bypass.
The meeting was adjourned at 04:38 PM.
