Council Present: Council Absent: Patty Eason, Gabe Sansing, Doug Smith, Henry All Council present Carr, Pat Berryman, Farley Snell, Ben Oliver Staff Present: Paul Brandenburg, City Manager; Tom Yantis, Assistant City Manager; Jim Briggs, Assistant City Manager; Patricia E. Lee, City Secretary; Micki Rundell, Director of Finance and Administration; Terry Jones, Support Services Construction Manager; Keith Hutchinson, Public Information Officer; Jessica Hamilton, Assistant City Secretary; Terri Calhoun, Paralegal • i - •• - '-TT=1 lurRUR•• -•; • • •- ii • A Facilities Update Yantis gave Council the details concerning City facilities. He spoke about the future five-year needs, including a larger location for the Police Department; expansion of the Georgetown Utility System Electric Department into property across from FM1460; the need for space for Municipal Court, saying that project has already been funded and the request for quotations has been sent; and determinations regarding locations for additional fire stations through utilization of Geographic Information System software. He said it looks like the next station will be a second station in Sun City. He told Council the restoration of old Fire Station 1 will be started soon to be utilized as the Visitor Information Center and related offices, along with administrative offices of the Fire Department upstairs. He said staff is looking at a parking facility to serve public and county needs on the southwest side of downtown, saying staff is meeting with Commissioner Covey and Judge Gattis, regarding land owned by the County on 8th Street across from the Library. He said staff will ask Council to fund or will look into Tax Increment Financing. He said the old library building is available and probably will be used for the Police Department, but still waiting for a needs assessment. There were questions and comments from the Council. Yantis displayed a new re -written Five Year Needs Plan. Sansing said he would like for the City to convince the County to take their facilities out to the Inner Loop, instead of taking up taxable property.
