HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ARTAB_09.19.23Minutes of the Arts and Culture Advisory Board City of Georgetown, Texas Tuesday, September 19, 2023 The Georgetown Arts and Culture Advisory Board met on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 4:30 PM at City Hall, 808 Martin Luther King, Jr Street. The following Members were in attendance: Present were: Norma J Clark, Karen E Turpin, David Valdez, Timothy W Fleming 1. Regular Session 1.A Call to order Call to order - David Valdez, Board Chair 4:32 PM 1.13 Arts & Culture Announcements Announcements - David Valdez, Board Chair Norma has 7 pieces of artwork being shown in the GCCMA: Our Stories Through Our Heart's Eyes exhibit on the 2nd floor of the Georgetown Public Library. . The Palace Theater is going to be putting on a play for school field trips called "A Little Bit of Magic" from October 17th to November 14th. There will be 2 performances open to the public on October 28th and November 4th. Williamson • County Art Guild is getting ready to open. 1.0 Approval of minutes Consideration and approval of the August 15, 2023 minutes - David Valdez, Board Chair Moved by Norma J Clark; seconded by Karen E Turpin to Approve the minutes with the correction of switching Karen and Norma's name. Motion Approved: 4- 0 Voting For: Timothy W Fleming, Norma J Clark, Karen E Turpin, David Valdez Voting Against: None LID City Hall Gallery Consideration and possible action to approve proposed City Hall Gallery exhibit for January - March 2024 —Amanda Still, Arts and Culture Program Manager Moved by Karen E Turpin; seconded by Norma J Clark to Approve as presented by staff.. Motion Approved: 4- 0 Voting For: Timothy W Fleming, Norma J Clark, Karen E Turpin, David Valdez Voting Against: None LE Coordinator report Presentation of Arts and Culture Coordinator Report - Amanda Still, Arts and Culture Program Manager . Upcoming Projects o San Jose Mosaic Mural did not receive sufficient grant funding to move forward. o A new mural will be going up at the City's GMC building, called Every Day is Earth Day. o Asphalt Art Grant will be determined late fall. o Georgetown Sculpture Tour - new sculpture installations will begin the first week of October. o Autumn Art Stroll with be on October 19th from 4-8pm • Haunted Art Night will be on October 20th from 6-9pm. There will be a showing of Nosferatu at 8pm at the South Main Arts District Park. South • Main Arts Festival will be on October 21 st from 10am to 6:30pm. o The Veteran Portrait Project Reception on November 8th from 5:30- 6:30pm. • October's Advisory Board Meeting will be cancelled. 1.F Volunteer Roles Consideration of volunteer roles during Month of the Arts events — Amanda Still, Arts and Culture Program Manager Board members signed up to volunteer at the Art Stroll. Adjournment Artist Reception Artist reception for the City Hall Gallery after the board meeting. The Arts & Culture Advisory Board is invited. No official action will be taken.
