HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_12.12.2019City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes December 12, 2019 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 110 WL Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626. Regular Session — To begin no earlier than 6:00pm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene at Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551). The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Members Present: Bart Bartleson, Keith Fruge, Monica Gaskamp, Laura Klein Plunkett, Steve Fought Members Absent: Ned Atkins, Sarah Vigil One Georgetown resident attended the meeting as an observer. Meeting called to order at 6:00 PM by Monica Gaskamp I. Presentation of Animal Services and Animal Control Statistical and Analytical Report for October and November 2019 — April Haughey (Board Liaison) a. A record 220 animals were served at the November vaccine clinic. b. Euthanasia 3.7% YTD; shelter continues to be at or near capacity. c. Shelter has 29 dog kennels and 22 cat kennels. Creative space utilization and rescue transfers have been critical in managing population. d. The average LOS for dogs is almost 16 days; cat LOS is slightly higher. 2. Presentation of adoption and community events for November and December 2019 — April Haughey (Board Liaison) a. 3 adoption events in October -November. Pupology will be a regular adoption venue. b. Kitten visits at Park Place and Brookdale have been very well received. c. Shelter staff attended both days of the Christmas Stroll and displayed kittens. d. Shelter staff will meet with GISD nurses to review bite reporting protocol. e. Social media will include emphasis on holiday dangers to pets and people. 3. Review of current staffing — Monica Gaskamp, Board Chair a. Two new receptionists have been hired and are learning their jobs. b. There are 40 applicants for the open ACO position; Angela is conducting interviews. 4. Presentation of recent donations to the Shelter from the community —April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. $867 raised at Pupology b. The Sun City Pet Club funded the purchase of 20 new Kuranda beds. c. The shelter received a $1000 online donation and $515 was raised from donations at the Stroll. d. The public is donating wish list items for the holidays and the Amazon list will be updated. 5. Public wishing to address the Board a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board. 6. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from October 2019 — Monica Gaskamp, Board Chair a. Minutes reviewed by all present; no corrections noted. Motion to accept minutes, Keith Fruge; seconded, Bart Bartleson. Approved unanimously.
