HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_08.08.2019City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes August 8, 2019 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 110 WL Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626. Regular Session — To begin no earlier than 6:OOpm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene at Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551). Members Present: Bart Bartleson, Keith Fruge, Monica Gaskamp, Laura Klein Plunkett, Sarah Vigil Members Absent: Ned Atkins Staff Absent: April Haughey Meeting called to order at 6:02 PM by Keith Fruge. I. Discussion on updates to proposed facilities and IT projects —Capt. Amy Janik, Support Services Bureau Commander (Board Liaison) a. Exterior painting and camera installation complete. b. Volunteer software project starting soon. 2. Presentation of Animal Services and Animal Control Statistical and Analytical Report — Capt. Amy Janik, Support Services Bureau Commander (Board Liaison) a. A record 213 animals were served at the July vaccination clinic b. 110 intakes in July; capacity issues continuing. 23 euthanasia, including 19 cats, many of whom were ill. c. ACO calls increased to 614 in July; Bark Park, Blue Hole, humane education continue to be focus areas. d. The shelter is closing in on 5000 Facebook followers; Shawn will run a campaign to push past the 5000 mark. 3. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events for August 2019 — Capt. Amy Janik, Support Services Bureau Commander (Board Liaison) a. Kittens in the Library event resulted in 14 kitten adoptions in 2 hours on the first day. b. The shelter will participate for the first time in the "Clear the Shelter" adoption event on 8/17, sponsored by KXAN/NBC Universal -owned TV stations. The shelter will open early at 11:00 that day. c. Pupology on Williams Drive will host an adoption event on 8/31 from 9 to noon. 4. Review of current staffing levels — Capt. Amy Janik, Support Services Bureau Commander (Board Liaison) a. Monica Gaskamp was introduced as a new Board Member, representing a shelter employee, and Board Chair. b. A new Animal Care Supervisor has been hired and will start work on 8/19. c. ACO Masters' last day is 8/23; the current ACO Supervisor will step down into that position. The ACO Supervisor position is posted and interviews will be scheduled in September. 4. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from July, 2019—Capt. Amy Janik, Support Services Bureau Commander (Board Liaison) a. Minutes reviewed by all present; no corrections noted. Motion to accept minutes, Bart Bartleson; seconded, Keith Fruge. Approved unanimously. 5. Public wishing to address the Board a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board. With no further business or discussion, Laura Klein Plunkett made a motion to adjourn. Keith Fruge seconded. Meeting adjourned at 6:29 P.M.
