HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ARTAB_03.19.2019Minutes of the meeting of the Arts and Culture Board City of Georgetown, Texas March 19, 2019 The Arts and Culture Board met on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. in the Small Conference Room of Georgetown Public Library, 402 W. 8th Street, Georgetown, TX. PRESENT: Jane Estes, Susie Flatau, Tim Fleming, Sharon Snuffer, and Carol Watson. STAFF PRESENT: Eric Lashley — Library Services Director, Amanda Still -Arts and Culture Coordinator, and Lawren Weiss -Administrative Assistant ABSENT: Laura Sewell and Linda Wilde Call to order at 4:30 pm A. Citizens wishing to address the Board. — Jane Estes, Board Chair. None were present. No action required. B. Announcements regarding arts and culture. -Jane Estes, Board Chair. Updates from City staff and board members regarding arts events at Southwestern University, Georgetown Art Center, Georgetown ISD, Texans for the Arts and Lark and Owl bookstore. No action required. C. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from the February 119. 2019 meeting. —Jane Estes, Chair. No discussion necessary. Motion by Fleming; second by Flatau to approve the February 2019 minutes as distributed. Approved 5-0 (Sewell and Wilde absent). D. Review of board bylaws and attendance _policy- —Eric Lashley, Library Director. Lashley reviewed board bylaws and attendance policy, as this month marks the beginning of a new term. No action required. E. Consideration and possible action to elect a Vice -Chair and Secretar . —Jane Estes, Chair. Following a brief discussion, motion by Flatau, second by Snuffer to re-elect Laura Sewell as Vice -Chair and Carol Watson as Secretary. Approved 5-0 (Sewell and Wilde absent). F. Consideration and possible action regardinq the meeting time day and location of the monthly meetings. — Jane Estes, Chair. Motion by Watson to keep regularly scheduled monthly meetings on the third Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the library. Second by Snuffer, approved 5-0 (Sewell and Wilde absent). Fleming out next month. G. Consideration of the Arts and Culture Coordinator's monthly report- — Amanda Still, Arts and Culture Coordinator. Still reviewed the following with the board: • Breakfast Bites presentation with the board. Utility box art location and artwork for each o Discussed one location by the City pool on Williams Drive, utilizing the "Georgetown Oak" piece by East View High School students o Discussed second location at the box at intersection near El Monumento, utilizing the "Lady of Georgetown" piece by EVHS students • City Center • Sculpture Tour- library adding 2 sculpture pads • Concrete wall and the 5x5 plinths between City Hall and Municipal Court buildings, as a potential for public art. Could be permanent pieces or Sculpture Tour locations. • Red Poppy 20'h anniversary piece, unveiling on Friday, April 26 at 6 p.m. • City Hall Reception wall, behind staff desk • The shopping center under construction on University contacted Amanda about sculpture opportunities • Cultural District state funding • Texas Main Street magazine will feature Georgetown's Cultural District Proclamations for award winning high school students Motion by Snuffer; second by Flatau to adjourn the meeting.
