Meeting Minutes
December 13, 2018
The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 110 WL Walden Dr
Georgetown, TX 78626.
Regular Session - To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm.
(This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized
by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.

Meeting called to order at 6:36 PM
I. Public wishing to address the Board
a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board.
2. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from October and November, 2018 —
Nika Hazen, Board Chair
a. Minutes reviewed by all present. Motion to accept, Anna Eby,; seconded Keith Fruge;
approved unanimously.
3. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for November, 2018— April
Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison)
a. Highlights of the detailed reports presented: 47 adoptions and 36 animals returned to owners.
25 transfers to Rescue.
b. Great turnout of 147 at the vaccine clinic.
a. Intake decreased to 109 animals.
4. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events and results of October 2018
events— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison)
a. 3 adoption events were held.
c. The shelter presence at the Christmas Stroll resulted in 5 adoptions, a record number for this
event.
d. Outreach/education events were held at schools, including Benold and Village elementary.
5. Review of current staffing levels— Nika Hazen, Board Chair
a. Two recent resignations: a part-time technician and a full-time marketing/reception staff
member. Technician applicants are being interviewed. The resignations coupled with
prescheduled staff time -off required adjustments to shelter hours for Christmas week to
provide adequate coverage of necessary functions.
6. Discussion on board member terms ending and application process— April Haughey, Animal
Services Manager (Board Liaison)
a. April reviewed application process for board members with terms ending in early 2019.
7. Review of Recent Animal Cruelty Investigations — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager
(Board Liaison)
a. April outlined staff and police response to the uptick in recent cruelty investigations and
discussed the possible link between increased awareness and reporting of potential issues to
the increase in investigations.
Legislative Regular Agenda
8. Consideration and possible action to approve the installation of cement in the dog adoption
kennels April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison)
a. April presented a quote for installation of cement block partitions between kennels to replace
the current bite boards that require frequent replacement. The board had several questions
about project details not included in the quote document. Anna Eby moved to postpone a
vote until April could get the questions answered; seconded by Cinthia Medina, approved
unanimously.
With no further business or discussion, Bart Bartleson made a motion to adjourn. Sarah Vigil seconded.
