Meeting Minutes
November 8, 2018
The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 110 WL Walden Dr.,
Georgetown, TX 78626.
Regular Session - To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm.
(This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized
by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.

Members Present: Bart Bartleson, Nika Gill, Laura Klein Plunkett, Cinthia Medina

Meeting called to order at 6:10 PM
1. Public wishing to address the Board
a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board.
2. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from October 2018 — Nika Gill,
Board Chair
a. Minutes were unavailable due to a staffing issue. Motion to carry over review and
approval of minutes to next meeting, Bart Bartleson; seconded Laura Klein Plunkett,
approved unanimously.
3. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for October 2018— April
Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison)
a. Highlights of the detailed reports presented: 61 adoptions and 46 animals returned to
owners. Impoundments remain high and ACOS continue to focus on expediting RTOs,
even in the field.
b. The shelter participated in the Citizens' Police Academy. PSAs to over 4000 social
media followers included educational posts on transitioning shelter dogs to adoptive
homes, parvo risks and upcoming vaccination clinics.
c. ACOS are asking for proof of rabies from dog owners at the Bark Park.
4. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events and results of October 2018
events— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison)
a. 3 adoption events were held.
b. Shelter staff and volunteers are preparing for adoption events during PetSmart National
Adoption Weekend at the Ikea and Georgetown locations, and at the Christmas Stroll.
c. The last vaccine clinic of the year will be held Saturday, 11/10.
5. Presentation of current shelter improvements— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager
(Board Liaison)
a. New "bite boards" to replace some that were damaged and unusable and pet waste bag
dispensers needing replacement were purchased.
6. Presentation of fundraising and purchases by the Friends of the Georgetown Animal
Shelter— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison)
a. April presented the total raised by the Friends of the Georgetown Animal Shelter at their
recent fundraising event.
b. The Friends have funded the purchase of needed equipment for the shelter, including
harnesses, a veterinary anesthesia vaporizer, a clock, filters, a volunteer board, and most
recently a new microscope camera.
With no further business or discussion, Laura Klein Plunkett made a motion to adjourn. Bart Bartleson
seconded.
