HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_10.11.2018City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes October 11, 2018 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 110 WL Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626. Regular Session - To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551. Members Present: Bart Bartleson, Anna Eby, Keith Fruge, Laura Klein Plunkett, Sarah Vigil Members Absent: Nika Gill, Cinthia Medina Staff Present: April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) Meeting called to order at 6:13 PM 1. Public wishing to address the Board a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board. 2. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from September 2018 — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. All members reviewed and approved the meeting minutes with one correction. 3. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for September 2018 and Fiscal Year 2017-2018— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Annual statistics were presented. The shelter met 90% or greater LRR for the year, with continued high cooperation from the rescue community. b. Performance metrics were analyzed. Bad weather negatively impacted the FY metrics in two categories, while performance exceeded target in two other areas. c. Adoption percentage for the FY was 44.9%. d. For the fiscal year, animal follow-up, dog -at -large and wildlife nuisance were the top three ACO call -outs. e. 213 active volunteers on books, equivalent to 3.52 FTEs for the FY. 4. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events and results of September 2018 and FY 2017-2018 events— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. An average of 2.2 adoption events were held each month and the shelter participated in a total of 34 non -adoption community events in the FY. b. A recent event at a pet -friendly apartment complex in the city has generated interest in future cooperative efforts. c. October is a busy month. An upcoming event will be held at Natural Pawz in Georgetown, a new community partner. 5. Presentation of partnership with Georgetown Parks and Recreation for upcoming events — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Shelter staff will work with Parks and Recreation staff to create educational opportunities on dog behavior topics for patrons of the Bark Park. 6. Presentation of budget results for FY 2017-2018 and upcoming budget for 2018-2019 — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. April presented budget results for FY 17/18, highlighting savings in personnel and operations and a shortfall meeting revenue target. b. April presented highlights of FY 18/19 budget. With no further business or discussion, Keith Fruge made a motion to adjourn. Laura Klein Plunkett seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:13 P.M.
