HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_09.13.2018City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes September 13, 2018 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 110 WL Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626, Regular Session - To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551. The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Members Present: Anna Eby, Nika Gill, Laura Klein Plunkett, Sarah Vigil, Members Absent: Bart Bartleson, Keith Fruge, Cinthia Medina Staff Present: April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) Meeting called to order at 6:10 PM 1. Public wishing to address the Board a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board. 2. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from August 2018 — Nika Gill, Board Chair a. All members reviewed and approved the meeting minutes. 3. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for August 2018— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Statistics were presented in the new format. b. 10 public assistance spay/neuter were provided c. 4 euthanasias at 2%; adoption percentage up at 34.7%. d. New ACO handling calls independently since September 1. e. 204 active volunteers on books, equivalent to average of 3.21 FTEs YTD. 4. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Many activities scheduled in September, including adoption events and after school programs. 5. Review of current staffing levels — Nika Gill, Board Chair a. A new technician has been hired b. Staff is preparing to screen candidates for the open ACO position c. An additional ACO position has been approved for April, 2019. 6. Presentation of new shelter programs — Nika Gill (Board Chair) a. A new barn cat program has been launched and has been very successful. 7. Presentation and discussion of updates to proposals for shelter modernization — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. The changes to the volunteer program, including hours and activity requirements, were approved. b. The study group toured the shelter facilities and evaluated and measured current space. With no further business or discussion, Anna Eby made a motion to adjourn. Sarah Vigil seconded. Meeting adjourned at 6:42 P.M.
