Animal Shelter Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
June 14, 2018
The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 110 WL Walden
Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626.
Regular Session - To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm.
(This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session
for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551.
The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with

Members Present: Nika Gill, Bart Bartleson, Keith Fruge, Sarah Vigil
Members Absent: Cinthia Medina, Anna Eby, Laura Klein Plunkett
Staff Present: April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison)
Meeting called to order at 6:07pm by Nika Gill.
1. Public wishing to address the board
a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the
board.
2. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from May 2018-Nika
Gill
a. All members reviewed and approved the meeting minutes.
3. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for May
2018 -April Haughey
a. Increase in amount of cats/kittens impounded (consistent with this
time of year) and 10 cats were surrendered at once by same owner
b. Wildlife and cat nuisance increased in May due to construction and
increase in number of kittens born.
c. Board members found no issues with the reports.
4. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events for June 2018 -
April Haughey
a. Detailed list of events were presented to the Board.
b. Grand opening Garey Park.
c. Community event with Camp Goodwater and mission youth group
helped sand the dog agility boards and painted board and cement
bumpers
d. Cat spay/neuter with Georgetown Animal Shelter is June 23rd
5. Review of current staffing levels-Nika Gill
a. Shelter has been understaffed lately and currently looking for a part
time shelter technician employee
6. Presentation of updates to Wi1Co Shelter's temporary move into San Gabriel
Park -April Haughey
a. Draining issues and internal temperatures have been a concern and
are currently being addressed.
7. Consideration and possible action on options to improve volunteer and dog
safety -April Haughey
a. Discussion of costs to fix sidewalks and cameras.
b. Solution was to proved a one way path to help with dogs not being in
contact with each other on leash.
c. Volunteer safety/sign in and charging nominal fee for volunteers to
provide a shirt and name badge for identification.
d. Expanding schedule for cleaning dog kennels and starting 12-15 year
old volunteer group with adult.
8. Clarification of DEA drug logs-Nika Gill
a. Kept up to date and inventoried out consistently.
With no further business or discussion, Keith Fruge made a motion to adjourn. Bart
Bartleson seconded.
Meeting adjourned by Nika Gill at 7:12pm.
