HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_08.09.2018City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes August 9, 2018 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 110 WL Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626. Regular Session - To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551. Members Present: Bart Bartleson, Anna Eby, Keith Fruge, Laura Klein Plunkett, Cinthia Medina, Sarah Vigil Members Absent: Nika Gill Staff Present: April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) Meeting called to order at 6:04 PM by Keith Fruge, acting chairman. 1. Public wishing to address the Board a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board. 2. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from July 2018 — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. All members reviewed and approved the meeting minutes. 1. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for July 2018— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. After almost a year in the shelter, Rodger Dodger went to a foster home, and they have decided to adopt him. b. Impound numbers were down in July. 24 cats were euthanized; 17 of those were due to illness. Despite this, total euthanasia percent is at 5.7% for the year. c. 7 warnings were issued on 23 violations. Officer calls were down due to temporarily reduced staffing hours. 3. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Two adoption events were held in July; one at PetSmart in Georgetown and the other at Ikea. More events are planned for September and cooler weather. 5. Review of current staffing levels — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Nika Gill will not be relocating out of state and will be remaining in her current position. b. The newest part-time staff member has resigned to accept a full-time job elsewhere. c. The new A.C.O. is in her second week of training. 6. Review of proposal submitted for changes in the volunteer program — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. The Volunteer Program proposal was submitted to Chief Nero and is awaiting his approval. No substantial changes were made to what the Board approved at the last meeting. 4. Presentation of Local Rabies Control Authority appointment — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. On July 10, Shelter Manager April Haughey was appointed Local Rabies Control Authority. 6. Review of Performance ]Management Program Presentation to E -Team — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. As part of the Georgetown Performance Management Program, the shelter staff has developed a mission statement: Serve our community, act with compassion. b. April described the four strategic goals that were developed and the detailed metrics designed to support the achievement of those goals. With no further business or discussion, Keith Fruge made a motion to adjourn. Laura Klein Plunkett seconded. Meeting adjourned at 6:29 P.M.
