HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_07.12.2018City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes July 12, 2018 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 110 WL Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626. Regular Session - To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551. The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Members Present: Bart Bartleson, Keith Fruge, Nika Gill, Laura Klein Plunkett, Cinthia Medina, Sarah Vigil Members Absent: Anna Eby Staff Present: April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) Meeting called to order at 6:04 PM by Nika Gill 1. Public wishing to address the Board a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board. 2. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from June 2018 — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. All members reviewed and approved the meeting minutes with two corrections. 3. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for June 2018— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Hercules, after 7 months in the shelter, was adopted. b. Seasonal increase of impounded cats continues. c. Staff is addressing an outbreak of illness in neonate kittens which has increased death/ euthanasia rate. d. 383 ACO calls for month; wildlife nuisance continues to increase. e. April presented more detailed statistical reporting format pending IT and Chameleon capability. f. Board members found no issues with the reports. 4. Review of current staffing levels —Nika Gill, Board Chair a. Nika informed the Board of her pending resignation due to relocation out of state. Candidates are being interviewed. b. One ACO has resigned. Pool of 3 candidates being interviewed. 5. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Camp Goodwater stuffed Kongs and washed the adoption trailer. b. Banfield in Cedar Park provided veterinary procedures for 6 shelter dogs. c. Vaccine clinic July 28th. d. April is pursuing the shelter becoming an authorized Local Rabies Control Authority. e. Detailed list of adoption events was provided to the Board. 6. Presentation of shelter improvements for safety — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Sidewalk upgrade process ongoing. b. Lobby Guard visitor management; Board received info and analysis. c. Presented finalized plan for changes in volunteer program, including: • Implementation of nominal volunteer fee to cover cost of security name badge and volunteer t -shirt. • Hours requirement. • Volunteer opportunities for 12-15 year-olds when accompanied by parent. • Staged implementation planned from July 2018 through June 2019. • Job description for a new part-time Volunteer Coordinator position. 7. Consideration and possible actions to submit proposal for changes in volunteer program to Chief Nero — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Motion to approve the proposed changes to the volunteer program and implement the new Volunteer Coordinator position, Laura Klein Plunkett, seconded by Keith Fruge. Motion unanimously approved. With no further business or discussion, Keith Fruge made a motion to adjourn. Bart Bartleson seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:18 P.M.
