HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 09.16.1941Georgetownp-Texas September 169 1941 The City Council met in adjourned regular session at the City Hall# on the above date, Mayor M. F. Smith, presiding, the,following aldermen and officers being present: Aldermen; F. Be Buchholz, J. R. Chastain; J. C. Godbey, C. C. Hamilton, and S. E. Wilcox. Officers; W. H. Nunn, city attorney; M. Z. Catesq secretary and R. Be Tard, Manager of Utilities. Mayor M. F. Smith appointed Alderman J. C. Godbey and Alderman C.C. Hsm- ilton to canvas the returns of the Airport Bond Election held on the 15th day of September,'1941, and directed that the said committee in the presence of the City Council examine into the results of the said election and canvas the returns thereof and to report their findings to the City Council. And that the said committee after having exarsine the said returns reported as follows: "To the Mayor and City Council: q(� "We your committees having examined and canvassed the returns of the City of Georgetown Airport Bond Election held in the said City of the 15th day of September, 19419 find that the said was regularly held and that the results thereof were as followse' "For City of Georgetown Airport Bonds....0453 Votes "Against City of Georgetown Airport Bonds.....97 Votes Signed J. C. Godbey J. R. Chastain" Upon motion of Alderman J; R. Chastain and seconded by Alderman F. E. Buchholz, and put by the Mayor the said report of the'said committee was received and approved by a unanimous vote. -It was hen and there declaredby the Mayor that the said election had result d -in a majority in favor of theissuanee of the said City of Georgetown_� Airport Bonds, Alderman J. C. Godbey presented and Ordinance authorizing the issuance of CITY OF GEORGE TOWN AIRPORT BONDS, in the principal cum of $25p000.00 and moved that'the said Ordinance be read in fulli which motion was then and there seconded by Alderman S. Be Wilcox and put by the Mayor and upon roll call carried by.the following vote: Aldermen F. E. Buchholz, _ "AYil"; _ J. R. Chs.stainq "AYE"; C. 6. Hamiltonp "AYH"; J. C. Godbeys "AYE"; S. Be Tilcoxv "AYE"; No ts,none. The Mayor announced that the said motion had carried and the said Ordinance was then readin full. Maa4 Alderman J. C. Godbey then movedthat the rules requiring Ordinance's be read at three separate meetingsp by suspended. And that the said Ordinance be put on a second reading and be read by Caption which motion was seconded by Alderman J. R. Chastaint and put by the Mayor and upon roll call passed by the following vote: Alderman F. Be Buchholz9_"AYH";,J,, R. Chastaing "AYE"; C. C. Hamiltons "AYE"; J. C. Godbeys "AYE"; S. E. WilcO xt "AYE": NOts, none. The Mayor then declared that the said motion had carried and that the said Ordinance wasthen read by Caption. Alderman J. C. Godbey then moved that the rules requiring Ordinances to be read at three separate meetings be suspendeds and the said Ordinance be placed upon its third reading and be read by Caption which Motion was then seconded by Alderman F. Be Buchholz and put by the Mayor and upon roll call carried with the following vote:,Alderman F. E. Buchholz, "AYE"; J. R. Chastain, "AYE"; y Ei. C. Godbe"AYE"; C. C. Hamilton, "AYF111; ced that the said S. Be Wilcox, "AYE"; Nous none. The Mayor announ motion had�arried and the said Ordinance wasthen read by Caption. Alderman J. C. Godbey then moved that the said Ordinance be finally passed, which motion was then seconded by Alderman J. R. Chastain and put by the Mayor and upon roll call carried by the fol- lowing vote: Alderman F. E. Buchholz, "AYt"; J. R. Chastaing J. C. Godbeyl "AYE"; Co C. Hamilton, "AYE"; S. E. Smith then announced that the said Ordinance had finally passed and ordered that it be properly signed and attested and that it be recorded in the Minutes of the City Council, which is accordingly done and that the said Ordinance so passed and re- corded is as follows: -,{Minutes of City Council Book_ 2. Page 99-a. There appearing no further business, Alderman F. E. Buchholz moved that the Council meet in adjourned regular session Tuesday evening,September 23, 1941. The motion was seconded by Alderman J. R. Chastain and was carried unanimously. F. Smith presiding. The folldwing aldermen and officers were present: Aldermen, F. E. Buchholz, J. R. Chastain, J. C. Godbey, C. C. Hamil- ton, and S. E. Wilcox; and Officers W. H. Nunn, City Attorney, and Mr.L. Cates, Secretary. - fids were opened for the $2590001,00 Airport Bonds. The bid of Rauscher, Pierce and Company, San Antonio, being the best wasraeftJ10, eepted by the Council. The bid was for bonds maturing in 1943 to 19529 as 24s, semi-annual, and bonds maturing in 1953 to 19669 as 21s, semi -annuals paying a premium. of $35,50. The next highest bidder was A. W. Snyder and Company, Houston whose bid was 22s- 100.104. Alderman J. R: Chastain moved'that the Council adjourn and meet again at the usual time and place in the City Hall the'29th day of September, A. D., 1941. The motion was seeon ed by Alderman C. C.
