HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 04.22.1976 CC-SApril 22, 1976 The City Council met in special session at 4:00 p.m. on the above date with Mayor Doerfler presiding. The following councilmen and officials were present: J. D. Wininger, Carl Doering, Harry Gold, D. W. Scott, William Shell, City Manager Leo Wood, City Secretary W. L. Walden, and City Attorney Joe McMaster. Others present were: Mr. 8 Mrs. E. T. Cooper, James Draeger, Bill Stump, trent Leedeker, Mr. 8 Mrs. Roy Jones, Terry Beach, Carl Kinslow, Bob Simmons, N. B. McCormick, Carl Lidell, Buddy Adams, Donna Jay, David True, Rodney Hohertz, Alton Watson and other interested persons. General Telephone Motion by Gold and seconded by Shell to approve on first reading an Rate Increase ordinance regulating and prescribing the rates of The General Telephone Request Company of the Southwest and setting a date of May 10, 1976 for the rates to become effective. The rates increased by this ordinance is for the purpose of raising current revenue from the Georgetown exchange in the amount of not more than $22,500.00 per annum. After discussion from the floor, Mr. Kinslow was asked if this ordinance was agreeable with General Telephone. Mr. Kinslow said that itwas agreeable. There being no further discussion the motion passed by unanimous vote. Mr. Kinslow stated that a local trouble answering service would be installed in the Georgetown Telephone Office and that the telephone numbers of Mr. Kinslow and the local plant foreman would be listed in the new tele- phone directory. Rezoning Lots 182- Mayor Doerfler announced that with the consent of the council he would Block 27 and Lots 384- postpone any action on this matter until 4:30 p.m., on the 27th day of April, Block 24 1976, at which time the City Council will meet in special session. This action was due to Attorney Bill Conner being absent from the city. Pool Hall Ordinance The committee appointed to study the Pool Hall Ordinance recommended that a new ordinance be drawn up with the following suggestions inserted. Establishments with amusement type machines would be allowed to operate these machines from 6:00 o'clock a. m. to 12:00 o'clock p.m. Monday thru Friday, 6:00 o'clock a.m. Saturday until 1:00 o'clocka.m. Sunday and from 1:00 o'clock p.m. to 6:00 o'clock p.m. on Sunday. Any establishment with these machines would be assessed an annual $60.00 per year license fee and an annual $2.50 tax on each machine. After discussion, City Attorney Joe McMaster was instructed to draw up an Ordinance with these recommend- ations. Acceptance of Bid- The committee appointed to study the bids on the city warehouse recom- City Warehouse mended that the low bid of $23,980.00 from Kenrod Steel Company, Inc., be accepted. Motion by Doering and seconded by Scott that the contract be awarded to Kenrod Steel Company, Inc.. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Williamson County Carl Lidell requested that the council consider leasing to the Livestock Livestock Association Association an area in San Gabriel Park to construct a new facility and that the City of Georgetown furnish utilities to this facility. The Council agreed that some such agreement could be reached. There being no further business on a motion by Shell and seconded by Scott the meeting adjourned. ,k,,,L C � a Jon C.
