September 9, 1968
The City Council met in regular session on the above date with Mayor
Jay C.'Sloan presiding. The following Councilmen and officials were present:
William It. Lanes, A. F. Davis, Harry Gold, Doyle Lyda, City Manager Charles
D. Eyeington and Assistant City Manager Claud Lads. Also present were:
Oma Gahagan, Nelbert Tanksley, Ethel Moore, Bill Merritt, L. C. True,
Mrs. Herbert Baker and Drew Ballard.
Minutes of regular council meeting held August 12th and called meeting
held August 26th were approved with the exception in minutes of August 12,
resolution authorizing the City Secretary to convey property purchased from
I.O.O.F. Lodge to read City Secretary have authority to sell City Cemetery
lots in I.O.O.F. Cemetery only.
Motion by Lanes and seconded by Gold that General Fund Bills in the
amount of 7$5,578.01 and Utility Hills in the amount of !$27,774.92 be approved
and paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote.
Library Mayor read the following report from '`eorgetown Area Public Library:

August 1968
There were 1,251 books in circulation during the month of August.
The average daily circulation was 47. We had 31 new. cardholders.
We have gotten 22 new books in and they have been processed and put
on the shelves.
293 books were given to us in the month of August. Most of these
are good books.
t$10.00 was given for memorial books and they have been purchased.
Certificates were given to 60 boys and girls for reading 12 or more
books in the TLXAS READING CLUB.
Several other boys and girls were reading but did not join the Club.
I am so glad that we have a Library that they can come to and find good
books to read during the summer months. I think we had a good summer but
I hope we can do better for our children next summer.

Acting Librarian
Hardball Bill Merritt discussed the erection of rest rooms and maintenance of
Field hardball field at length. Council agreed that rest rooms and maintenance
would be taken care of.
2 - flour Oma Gahagan requested the council to authorize her to sign two hour
Parking parking tickets that her customers received which would excuse customers
Complaint from paying parking ticket. No action was taken.
Police Nelbert Tanksley and Ethel Moore stated that the people in their
Complaint. neighborhood were not receiving the proper police protection and the
West Side Police was not responding when called from their vicinity. Nelbert
Sewer Tanksley stated that there were homes near them that allowed sewer to
Complaint run on top of ground and sink water was running on the yards. Tanksley
suggested that the city habe persons that do not have sewer in their
homes be forced to install it.
Mayor suggested that City Manager Eyeington contact Dept. heads
in regard to getting pit toilets eliminated.
Asbestos Mr. Perdu with Johns -Manville talked to the council at length
Cement about their asbestos -cement pipe and suggested that it would be to the
Pipe advantage of City to use their pipe instead of steel pipe. No action
was taken.
Urban Motion by Lanes and seconded by Gold that City sell following lots
Renewal subject to approval of title by City Attorney. Votes as follows: AYES:
(Lots) Lanes, Lyda, Gold Davis. NOES: None.

For the consideration of $3,300.00 the undersigned (hereinafter
called the "Seller") being the owner thereof, hereby offers and agrees
to sell and convey to the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Georgetown,
Texas (hereinafter called the "Local Public Agency") or its assignee the
following described property, located in the City of Georgetown, County
of Williamson, State of Texas, to wit:
Lots 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 Ea. 60'.x 120', and property
West hereof, Carver 'Park Addition, City of Georgetown.

upon the following terms and conditions:
Upon closing, the Seller shall convey to the Local Public Agency
or its assignee by general warranty deed a good and marketable fee simple
title thereto, together with all improvements, hereditaments and appur-
tenances thereunto belonging, free and clear of all liens and encum-
brances of any kind except existing easements and/or restrictions,
if any, together with all his right, title and interest in and to any
street or alleys adjoining or abutting thereof. Taxes and assessments
shall be prorated as of the date of closing.
Payment of the total purchase price as shown above shall be as
follows: 81.00 receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and the further
payment of $3,299.00 upon transfer of title, by general warranty deed, to
the said Local Public Agency. All expenses of examinations of title and
of preparation and recording of deed shall be paid by the Local Public
Agency. Payment of the purchase price shall be made upon transfer of title
to the Local Public Agency.
This offer shall be irrevocable until Nov. 4, 1968 and shall remain
in force thereafter until 3U days after written notice by the Seller of
its termination. If this offer is accepted, the Local Public Agency
shall endorse its acceptance hereon and mail notice thereof to the Seller
at the address specified below. This agreement shall be binding upon
the Seller and his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns.
Notwithstanding the prior acceptance of this offer, the Local Public
Agency in lieu of completing the purchase of said premises may at any time
prior to closing, proceed to acquire the same by condemnation. The Seller
agrees, as an Independent stipulation, which shall.survive the expiration
or termination of this offer, to such condemnation upon payment of just
compensation, which shall be the purchase price above stated, which price
the Seller hereby declares to be fair market value of said premises,
inclusive of every interest therein.
Loss or damage to the property from any cause shall be at the risk
of the Seller until title has been conveyed to the Local Public Agency.
Seller shall pay for all required Federal Revenue Tax Stamps to be
attached to the deed of conveyance to the Local Public Agency.
