The following Aldermen and officials were present, Kennie V;ilcox, Jr., A. W. Hoyt, Jr.,Doyle Lyda, E. P. Files, Edward Lee Evans, Lee C. Black, City Manager, Claud Eads, City Secretary, Fred Knauth , C. S. Sanders, Tax Assessor & Collector, Dan Dowda, Chief of Police, Lenard McLaughlin, Fire Marshall, Joe B. McMaster, City Attorney, Wray Weddell with Austin American, John Cardwell, with Sun Publishing Co,. Drew Ballard, with K. G. T. N. Radio Station, Jerry Vorgan, President Junior Chamber of Commerce, . John Gochenauer, with Southwestern States Telephone Company , William Marvel with Rauscher, Pierce and Company. Motion by Edward Lee Evans and seconded by A. W. Hoyt, Jr., that minutes be approved. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Manager Black read reports for the month of April and submitted General rund bills in the amount of 4b42.36. Motion by Wilcox and seconded by Miles that reports be accepted and bills paid. Motion carried by unanimous vote. William Yarvel with Rauscher Pierce and Go. presented a sol,udule of due dates of bonds and amount IAterest and principal on each. Mayor stated that there would be a called meeting of Council on June 1st, at 700 P.M. for the purpose of opening and considering Bond bids on City of Georgetown, Water Extension and Sewer Extension and Improvement Bonds in the amount of $369,000. Mayor appointed the following for one year terms Mayor Pro -Tem Fire Marshall City Attorney City Secretary City Health Officef City Manager Edward Lee Evans Lenard McLaughlin Joe B. McMaster Claud Eads Dr. Douglas Benold Lee C. Black For 2 year Term City Tax Assessor -Collector C. S. Sanders, City Treasurer Miss Estella Byrom Motion by Hoyt and seconded by -Evans that above appointments one year and two year,terms be approved. Motion carried by unanimous vote. New Members Plumbing Board Master Plumber Journeymen Plumber Contractor Contractor Health Officer Plumbing Inspector(F'x-Officio) W. B. Caskey John Doerfler J. W. Garrett John Smith Dr. Pouglas M. Benold Angus Wyatt ?notion by Evans and seconded by Miles that Plumbing Board Members be approved . Motion carried by unanimous vote. Manager Black read letter from Mr. Stokes , Manager of Wesleyan Home in reference to the amount of Electric hill of home. Mrs Stokes made comparison of other homes near Georgetown , San Antonio, Dallas, Bryan, Lockhart, Hereford. Council suggested that Manager Black look into the matter and let Ir. Stokes have an answer in 30 days. OLD GEORGETOi,W CE. -=ERY * See Ordinance Book Pages 350-351-352-353- 354- 355 Motion by Miles and seconded by Lyda that City of Georgetown accept responsibility of upkeep of Old Georgetown Cemetery. Motion carried by unanimous vote. Jerry Morgan,. President of Junior Chamber of Commerce asked permission from Council to have a Carnival on the East and South Side of Court House which would occupy space equal to the space taken up by parking at present time. The Council suggested that the Cnrnival be held at the ,an Gabriel Park. Motion wqs made by Fvans and speonded by Miles that permission be granted to the hold Junior Chamber of Commerce to/cRrnival in San Gabriel Park. Motion carried by unanimous votes Mayor Elliott stated that Mr. J. P. Kerr, President of Georgetown Railroad had received work from Interstate Cortumerce Commission that the M. K. & T. Railroad requested permission of abandoning their road frogp Granger to Round Rock, Motion by Xilcox and seconded by Evans that the City Council gould oppose any move to abandon the Us K. & T. Road through Georgetown. Motion carried by unanimous vote. There being no further business on motion by Evans and seconded by Miles that meeting adjourn. Mayor, i y of eorge own, Texas.
