HomeMy WebLinkAboutMIN 03.09.1959 CC-R196 March 9, 1959 The City Council met with the following present= Mayor Forbes - Aldermen, Compton, Freund, Jones and Wilcox - Manager Black - Assistant Partain - City Attorney McClain - Secretary McCook and Mr. W. R. Eanes - Sam Brady - C. S. Sanders and Don Scarbrough, Mr. Brady and Mr. Eanes submitted a resolution of the Chamber of Commerce transferikg the property on Austin Ave. to the City and the authorization to pay the City $3,000.00 cash and execute the deed to the property. On Motion by Alderman Compton-seeonded by Freund- a resolution was passed authorizing the Mayor to execute deed to the property now used as a city park and located on 12the street to the Chamber of Commerce with the provisio that the Chamber of Commerce will in turn deed this property to Wesylan Homes as the site for a home for elderly people. Mr. J. H. McCoy then presented an outline of his proposed sub -division located off the Hutto Road at the eastern boundry of the city limits. Motion by Alderman Freund -seconded by Jones -that this sub -division be approved with the usual reservations as to proper placement of utilities and sewerage lines. Motion Carried. Mr. Black then read the minutes of the last mee#ing which were approved as read. Mr. Black then'read his reports and submitted bills against the General Fund in the amount of 8664.Bo. Motion by Alderman Compton -seconded by Freund -that reports be approved and bills paid. Motion Carried. Mayor Forbes then read a letter from Col* wells of the Army Engineers to Congressman Thornberry concerning additional survey work on the location of dams on the upper San Gabriel rivers. Mayor Forbes then reported that representatives of the Council had met with the local School Board to discuss"the tax revaluation program. Manager Black then presented the property valuations and taxes paid by the 100F Cementary Association to guide the Council in their action on the plea of the association for tax relief. Motion by Alderman Compton -seconded by Jones - that action be denied. Motion Carried. There being no further business, on Motion of Alderman Jones -seconded by Freead, Council adjourned.
