The City Council met in regular session on the above date, Ivlayor J. T. Atlri.n
presiding , the follocrinl* were presents Aldermen -- J. H. Compton-, E.K. Fredericson
Fred C. Smith, Kennie 1,7ilcox ,Jr., A. C. Woodfi.n, City 11anager Lee C. Black;
C. S. Sanders Tax Ascossor-Collector; J. Frank Clark, health Officer; A. P. Pickle,
Chief of Police, I:1. L. Cates, kiecretary.
I«inutes of the last session were read and approved on the motion of Alderman
J. H. Compton, seconded by Ald. Tlileox.
Manacer Black read his usual monthly report, including accounts for approval
and na,mient in the amount of X580,,21. On I111otion of Ald. b oodfin seconded by
Fredericson the reports were received and filed and all accottnts ordered paid.
The Fire Committee and Idanager Black were requested to investigate the assembling
of a booster truck to be used in extinguishing out -of -city fires, and report at
a later meeting of the Council.
Fireman Lenard Lc Laurhlin gave a splendid report of fireman's annual school held
recently at College Station, Texas, as a delegate from the Georgetown Fire De-
partment.,
Ald. Fred C. Smith made a motion that the Council create the office of Deputy
Fire Marshall, and that Yr. Lenard McLaumhlin be appointed as such for the usual
term of all appointive officers, or the unexpired term of such officers. Ald.
A. C. Woodfin seconded the motion which carried.
On Motion of Ald, A. C. Vvoodfin, seconded by Ald. E. K. Fredericson the following
resolution eras passed unanimously s
" A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Georyetrnvn, accepting the offer
and agreeing to perform the conditions, whereunder The State of Texas will pave
the portion of Highway No. 29, that lies within this City, and is designated as
Twelfth Street."
" BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COM,.CIL OF THE CITY OF GEORC-EM,11, TEXAS:"
" That the offer of The State of Texas, to pave and improve that portion of
Highway No. 29, that is within this City, and that is known as TViELFTH Street,
is hereby in all thin -s accepted, and the said City promises, binds and obligates
itself to perform all of the conditions and obligations pertaining thereto. That
the said offer and conditions thereof are all fully set out in the instrument to
which this resolution is attached, and that the passace of this resolution, and
the attaching same to the said offer, shall evidence the acceptance thereof."
Passed and approv d this the 9th. day of August , A. D. 1954."

A contract was subnitted to the City of Geormetown, by The Texas Highway Department,
stating the conditions required of the City for the widening and installing curb and
gutter on HichwairNo. 29 (12th.Street), from city limits to city limits, and re-
qu.ring a payment of w,10,000.00 as the Ci.tyts part of this project. On motion of
Alderman Fred C. .4mith, seconded bir Alderman J. H. Compton, the Council an roved the
contract, and authorized the payment of the t-10,000.00 as required by unanimous vote
of the Council.

minutes.
On mot3.on of Ald. Smith, seconded by Ald. Ccanpton the Council authorized the re-
roofing of the City Hall and Fire Station at a contract price of u600.00 with 10
year tuarantee.

of an eight -inch sanitary sewerline across said railroad company's premises
at a point as described in said license agreement for account of the Uity of
George town,
Ald. 4'doodfin made a motion, seconded.Iby .Ald. Smith, that said license agreement
be approved and duly authorized City Official instructed to execute said Agree-
ment for account of the City of Georgetown, The motion carried.
There oocuring no further business the Council adjourned.
