HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes_ANSAB_05.10.2018City of Georgetown Animal Shelter Advisory Board Meeting Minutes May 10, 2018 The Animal Shelter Advisory Board met Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 6:00 pm at 110 WL Walden Dr., Georgetown, TX 78626. Regular Session – To begin no earlier than 6:00 pm. (This Regular Session may, at any time, be recessed to convene an Executive Session for any purpose authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code 551. The City of Georgetown is committed to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Regular Session Members Present: Bart Bartleson, Anna Eby, Keith Fruge, Laura Klein Plunkett, Cinthia Medina, Sarah Vigil Members Absent: Nika Gill Staff Present: April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) Meeting called to order at 6:04 P.M. by Keith Fruge 1. Public wishing to address the Board a. As of the time of posting, no person had signed up to address the board. 2. Recognition and Introduction of new Board Member — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Introduction of Arthur (Bart) Bartleson, new member. 3. Consideration and possible action to approve minutes from April 2018 —April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. All members reviewed and approved the meeting minutes. 4. Presentation of Animal Services Statistical and Analytical Report for April 2018— April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. April total adoption rate was low at 31.2%, with YTD of 59.8%. b. High cat RTO percentage of 7.7% was helped by focus on microchipping c. Board members found no issues with the reports. 5. Presentation of upcoming adoption and community events for May 2018 — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Detailed list of events were presented to the Board. b. A Kitten Shower will be held at Hillstone at Wolf Ranch May 26 to promote fostering. 6. Presentation of budget requests for FY 18-19 — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Medical Supplies line item is trending lower than budgeted. b. Staffing affected by medical restrictions and planned time off. c. Proposals include additions to animal control officer, administration, and tech positions. d. Proposed budget has net increase of about 1.36% over this FY 7. Presentation and discussion of possible shelter updates to improve volunteer and dog safety — April Haughey, Animal Services Manager (Board Liaison) a. Visual barriers between dog kennels have reduced barking. b. Investigating ways to address slip/fall hazard from grassy area on path used to walk dogs. There are drawbacks to alternative materials for path and to using different routes. Further consideration is needed. With no further business or discussion, Keith Fruge made a motion to adjourn.
