October 22, 1946
An adjourned regular session of the City Council met on the above date,
October 28nd, 1945 Mayor George C. Hester presiding, the following
members of the Council being present: Aldermen: J. R. Chastain, C. C.
Hamilton, Sam E. Harris, Sam E. Wilcox. Officials: Manager Dee C. Black,
A. P. Pickle, City I.Tarshal, W, H. Nunn, Attorney for the City and M. L.
Cates, Secretary.
The Council met in this continued regular session for the purpose of
taking official action on the following $ending matters:
THE MILK ORD IN ANCR :
The Milk Ordinancewas presented by Ordinance Committeeman, Chastain,
who moved that the same be read in full. The motion was seconded by Alder-
man Chastain and was carried unanimously. The Ordinance was read in
full, the same being recorded in full on pages 191-A to to 191-G
of thds minute book, as minutes of this session.
A Motion was made by Alderman Chastain and seconded by Alderman "Vileox
that all the usual rules , requiring ordinances be read at three suco
nestive^meeting be hereby suspended, and that the said Ordinance be
passed to its second reading and hereafter, be read by Caption only
before it be voted on at each successive reading. The motion carried by t
the following vote: Ayes --Chastain, Harris, Namilton, Tilcox. Noes --none,
The Ordinance was read by Caption.
On motion of Alderman Vlilcoxp seconded by Alderman Harris, that the said
aforesaid ordinance be passed to its third reading, was unanimously
passed, the following being the vote: Ayes; Chastain, Hamilton, Harris,
Wilcox, Noes -None.
Ordinance read by Caption. Alderman Harris moved that the same be finally
passed. Alderman Hamilton seconded the motion. The motion was passed
the following being the vote. Ayes: Chastain, Hamilton, Harris, Wilcox.
Noes. None.
Mayor George C. Hester Declared the said Milk Ordinance duly and con-
stitutionally passed.
An ORDINANCE PROVID17TG FOR A RFCORDFR OF THE CORPORATION COURT;
Adinance Committeeman presented an Ordinance providing for a
recorder for the Corporation Court of sthd City of Georgetown, thus
repealing former provisions, as set forth in the ordinance cotained in these
minutes on page 191-H. Alderman Chastain moved tha.tsike said Ordinance be
read in full. The motion was passed.
Alderman Chastain moved that all the usual rules for passing Ordinances
be and are hereby suspended, that the said oddinance be pasdedyto its sec-
ond reading, and hereafter be read by Caption only. The Motion was carried.
The following is the vote. Ayes --Chastain, Hamilton, Harris Wilcox.
The Ordinance was read by Caption. Alderman Harris Moved the said
ordinance be passed to its third reading. Ilderman Wilcox seconded the
motion which was carried by the following vote. Ayes --Chastain, Hamilton,
Harris, Wilcox. Aloes --none.
Ordinance was read by Caption. Alderman J. R. Chastain moved the
same be finally passed. Alderman Wilcox seconded the motion. The motion
carried, the following being the vote: Ayes; Chastain, Hamilton, Harris,
Wilcox. Noes --None,
Mayor George_C, Hester Declared the said Recorder Ordinance
duly and constitutionally passed.
On motion of Alderman J. R. Chastain, and seconded by Alderman
C. C. Hamilton, that in accordance with a former understadmgg between
the Council and 'Tr. Zee C. Rlack, City Manager, that the salary of
Mr. Black be increased from $3600.00 to $4000.009 retroactive to Oct. 1st,
1946. The motion was carried unanimously.
There being no further busine s ready for transaction the
Council adjourne
