June 14th, 1945
The City Council met in regular adjourned session on the above date to
further consider the propasal of the Magnolia Petroleumto build for
the City of Georgetown an administration building at the Georgetown
Municipal Airport.
mayor M. F. Smith presided at the meeting and the following officials '
were present: Aldermen; F. E. Buchholz, J. R. Chastain, C. C. Hamilton,
W. P. Hoffman, Jr., and S. E. Wilcox, B. H. Cruce, City Manager; W. H.
Nunn attorney for the city. 14. L. Cates, secretary.
Alderman J. R. Chastain presented an ordinance, leasing the Georgetown
Municipal Airport property to Magnolia petroleum Company, and moved
that it be read in full. The motion was seconded by Alderman F. E. Buchholz,
and was carried by the following unanimous vote. Ayes: Buchholz, Chastain,
Hamilton, Hoffman, TVilcox, Noes. None.,
The Ordinance was read in full. Alderman F. E. Buchholz made a motion
that khzxx owing to an existing emergency, all the usual rules for pass-
ing ardinances be suspended, that the said ordinance be hereafter read
by caption and that the same be passed tops its second reading. The motion
was seconded by Alderman J. R. Chastain and was passed unanimously.
the following being the recorded vote. Ayes; Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton,
Hoffman, Wilcox. Noes --None.
The Ordinance was read by Caption. Alderman '". p. Hoffman, Jr. made
a motion that the usual rules 'fer passing ordinances be suspended and
that the said ordinance be read bplyob�rioaption hereafter, and the same
be passed to its third reading. The ffiotiontwas seconded by Alderman
S. E. Wilcox and was carried by the following unanimous vote: Ayes --
Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman, Wilcox, goes --None.
Ordinance was read by Caption. Alderman Chastain moved that the same
be finally passed. The motion was seconded by Alderman Buchholz and was carve
ried by the following votes ]Wes --Buchholz, Chastain, Hamilton, Hoffman,
Wilcox. Noes --None.
The Mayor declaree the said ordinance was duly and constitutionally
passed to become effective immediately.
Upon motion of Alderman Hamilton, seconded by Alderman Chastain
the Council adjourned.
