The City Council met in regular session on the above date with Mayor
M. F. Smith presiding, the following aldermen and officers being
presents Aldermen F. Be Buchholz, J.R. Chastain, J. C. Godbey, C. C.
Hamilton and S. E. Wilcox, Officers, We H. Numm, cityn attorney, C. S•
Sanders, Albert May, marshal, M. L. Cates,seeretary and R. Be XArd
manager.
On motion of Alderman Godbey, all approved accounts were ordered
paid.
The reports of Officers C. S._Sand.ers, City assessor and collector;
Albert May, marshal and Miss Estella Byrom, treasurer, were read and
on motion of Alderman F. Be Buchholz were received and filed.
Resolution committeeman T. C.-Godbey read the following resolution;
"Resolved, that the project completion date formthe Library Project
PWA Docket Tex -2606-F be and the same is hereby extended from October
319 1939to and including December 10 1939, and that this extension'
is contingent upon the approval of the Public Works Administration."
The aforesaid J. C. Godbey moved the adoption of said resolution, and
was seconded by Alderman F. Be Buchholz and was carried unanimously
by the Council.
Resolution Committeemah J. C. Godbeyread the fo110wing Resolution:
"Resolved, That,the contract completion date for Contract No. 2 PWA
Docket Tex, 2606-F Cody Memorial Library Building, of which Mr. R. H.
Folmar it the Contractor, be and the same is hereby extended from
September 24th, 1939 to and including October 9, 1939, and that this
extension is contingent upon the approval of the Regional Director,
Public 7orks Administration."
On motion of J. R. Chastain, seconded by Alderman S. Be Wilcox the
Mayor was authorized to appoint a committee to act in conjunction with
City Manager R. E. Wand in the purchasing of a tvaet of land adjacent
to the city of Georgetown from the owner Mrs. A. P. Johnson. The motion
was carried unanimously and the Mayor appoint the followinas a com-
mittee: Aldermen C. C. Hamilton and J. C. Godbey.
Upon motion of Alderman F. E. Buchholz, seconded by Alderman J. C.
Godbey, the council employed C. S. Senders to audit the necessary
books of tkx Southwest Telephone in '`heir Main office in Brownwood
for the purpose of securing information to present the Council
in its hearing at wkich the council is to consider further the
said telephone company}N request for a rate increase 69 the
company subscribers in Georgetown.
_There appearing no further business the council adjourned
subject to call of the Mayor.
