(Secretary), Micki Rundell, Mary Treuter and Lyle Warden DVM
Staff present: Shawn Gunnin, Jackie Carey
Absent: Anna Eby
Meeting called to order at 6:03 pm by Kelly Thyssen
1. Citizen's comments — none
2. Motion to approve corrected minutes of November meeting made by Micki
Rundell, seconded by Mary Treuter, passed by unanimous vote.
3. Presentation of animal services statistical and analytical report for November and
December 2016 by Jackie Carey.
Noted that cats were removed by mutual consent from PetsMart in mid
December 2016 over concern for health, help and care of cats during holiday
season. Advisory board suggested staff meet with folks at PetsMart to help with
expectations, additional training for care, and possible medications and diet to
ease the stress typical to cats in transition of environment.
4. Discussion of current status of Needs Assessment Study done for the Animal
Shelter. Staff has confirmed March 28, 2017 date on council agenda. Discussion
of moving to early April so that new Advisory Board and new Shelter manager
have time to discuss to resolve questions. Outline of presentation to council by
advisory board for the February meeting was agreed. This should help transition
to new shelter team.
5. Advisory board was advised that new shelter manager has not been announced.
With Jackie's eminent retirement, this was met with grave concern. A transition
period between new and outgoing manager is simply best practice that should be
considered imperative with the network of organizations and volunteers that have
made this a No Kill Shelter.
6. Motion to adjourn made by Mike, second by Kelly, passed by unanimous vote.
Meeting adjourned 6:37 pm
