JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Animal Services Marketing Coordinator Effective Date: 01/07/2014

SUMMARY: Creates, implements and evaluates marketing strategies to increase visibility, encourage visitors and
increase the adoption of animals in the City’s shelter. Performs administrative functions and provides quality customer
service assistance to visitors.

subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to,
the following:
Designs and implements a marketing plan with focus on increasing the adoption rate of animals in the Animal
Shelter.
Utilizes social media platforms to communicate with and engage the online community in matters related to the
Animal Shelter.
Maintains Animal Shelter web-site with up to date picture, announcements, events, statistics, testimonials, etc.
Develop marketing literature; initiates media opportunities including on-air interviews and feature stories.
Develops and hosts special events, programs, activities, contests, etc. designed to increase adoption rates and
further develop the shelter’s positive reputation in the community.
Answers telephone; greets visitors; accompanies visitors to look at cats and dogs; accepts donations.
Issues city licenses and permits.
Supervises shelter volunteers.
Answers questions about city policies, ordinances, and licensing requirements; explains city processes for
intakes, surrendering of animals, and the filing of complaints.
Manages license renewal program; prepares Lost and Found reports; prepares daily deposits.
Coordinates adoption process; coordinates with rescue groups; coordinates with PetsMart.
Prepares and maintains paperwork and records.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, training and Experience Guidelines
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, business or related field.
OR Associate’s degree. Two years of full-time related experience. OR Any combination of experience, education or
training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge of:
Marketing practices and theory.
Modern office practices.
City and administrative policies and procedures.
Supervisory practices and principles.
Social media platforms.
How to design programs, events, etc.
Skill in:
Building and maintaining effective working relationships.
Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
Delivering creative and innovative thoughts.

Analyzing and problem-solving.
Performing basic mathematical calculations.
Using computer and Microsoft Office.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class C Texas driver’s license or other transportation source
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, bending, vision, hearing, talking. Exposure
to animals i.e. cats and dogs. Occasional exposure to extreme temperature when outdoors; constant noise from barking
dogs at the shelter, occasional threats from hostile customers; exposure to cleaning chemicals.
