HomeMy WebLinkAboutFacility ForemanPage 1 of 2 City of Georgetown JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Facilities Foreman Effective Date: 01/13/2015 FLSA Category: Non-exempt Revision Date: 01/13/2015 SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Facility Superintendent, supervises assigned staff and participates in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of City facilities, equipment, and grounds. Provides oversight to new facility construction and major repair projects. Organizes and prioritizes daily work and determines ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and participates in the work of assigned crew. • Recommends for hires, supervises, trains, and develops staff through review of performance data, conferences, training and performance review. • Schedules and assigns staff and contractors through received work orders prioritizing by need while minimizing citizen and employee interruptions during facility operation hours. • Inspects facilities to identify issues in order to formulate plans for repair and maintenance. • Proactively plan and create preventative maintenance schedules. • Schedule and conduct staff meetings. • Issues work orders; makes judgment pertaining equipment and material/supply needs to complete assigned duties; purchases required materials to complete assigned duties. • Researches parts; orders parts; secures bids as necessary, confers with contractors and suppliers. • Trains employees in the operations of various tools and equipment and construction and repair practices and procedures. • Performs other duties as assigned and may assist with special events, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, training and Experience Guidelines High school diploma or equivalent. Five years of full-time experience in facility maintenance or construction work. Two years of the required experience must have been in a supervisory or lead position. OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Facility or Constructions Sciences or a related field. Two years of full-time experience in construction and maintenance. One year of the required experience must have been in a supervisory or lead capacity. OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge of: • Basic construction and facility maintenance techniques to include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other associated construction skills. • Facility maintenance, repair, and construction methods and practices. • Project estimating, scheduling and management. • Occupational safety and health rules, regulations, practices and procedures. • Supervisory methods and practices. • City policies and procedures. Skill in: • Making plumbing, electrical, carpentry and masonry repairs. • Managing and performing all phases of a facility renovation project. • Light machinery operation. Page 2 of 2 • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing. • Reading memos, instructions, warning labels, road signs, professional publications, manuals and textbooks. • Supervising and directing employees. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Valid Class C Texas driver's license. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls. Exposure to weather extremes, especially the sun, exposed to pesticides.
