HomeMy WebLinkAboutMail CourierPage 1 of 1 City of Georgetown JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Mail Courier Effective Date: 10/01/2012 FLSA Category: Non-exempt Revision Date: 07/08/2014 SUMMARY: Delivers sorted mail and interoffice correspondence to various departments in City and picks up items for all City Divisions. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:  Picks up mail from post office.  Sorts incoming mail and interoffice correspondence.  Delivers sorted mail and interoffice correspondence to various departments in city.  Performs routine maintenance and repairs on the Pitney Bowes mailing machine; ensures adequate inventory of supplies needed to do office work.  Coordinates with vehicle services for maintenance of mail services vehicle; ensures cleanliness of vehicle and current inspection.  Meters out-going mail and deliver to Post Office.  Calculates daily postage use by departments.  Ensures resolution of problems impacting delivery of mail or mail processing.  Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, training and Experience Guidelines High school diploma or equivalent. Six months of full-time clerical work experience with direct customer contact. OR Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge of:  City procedures and the location of departments. Skill in:  Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.  Reading addresses, messages, memos, and other documents..  Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.  Understand and follow oral and written instructions.  Calculating postage/insurance for outgoing mail. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Valid Class C Texas driver’s license. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, vision, hearing, talking, use of foot controls.
