March 17, 2015
The Arts and Culture Board met on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. in Classroom 211 of the
Georgetown Public Library, 402 W. 8t" Street
MEMBERS PRESENT: Gary Anderson, Shana Nichols, Betty Ann Sensabaugh, Liz Stewart and
Melissa Waggoner
STAFF PRESENT: Dana Hendrix, Eric Lashley, Lawren Weiss
Chair Sensabaugh called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
Regular Session
A. Citizens who wish to address the board. — None were present.
B. Announcements of upcoming events. — Liz Stewart announced that the Georgetown
Symphony Society's Season Finale will take place on Sunday, April 26 at 4 p.m. at the Klett
Center. Dana Hendrix presented a layout to the Board of the new arts.georgetown.org website.
Hendrix announced that the GHS Jazz Band will perform in the library lobby April 19, from 2-
4p.m. and the Sun City Photography Club will fill the library's galleries during April.
C. Introduction of new board member Steven Harris. —Eric Lashley. Steven Harris was not in
attendance for the March meeting, so an introduction was not necessary.
D. Consideration and approval of the minutes of the February 24, 2015 Arts & Culture Board
meeting. — Melissa Waggoner moved to approve the minutes as distributed. Shana Nichols
seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
E. Election of Vice Chair and Secretary. — Nichols made the motion to elect Melissa Waggoner
as Vice Chair and Liz Stewart as Secretary. Stewart seconded the motion, which passed
unanimously.
F. Report from Georgetown Art Works regarding the operation of the Georgetown Art Center
during the month of February. —Eric Lashley. The board reviewed February's monthly report
provided by Georgetown Art Works (attached to these minutes). Lashley reported that he sent
a letter to Georgetown Art Works, per the board's request at last month's meeting, regarding
grant funds from fiscal year 2013-2014. Lashley noted that Georgetown Art Works had since
made the designated purchases. Georgetown Art Center's April exhibit will feature recycle*
materials as works of art.
G. Report on mural project. —Eric Lashley. Lashley presented the Board with a Call to Artists draft
(attached to these minutes) for mural proposals on a building located at 711 S. Main Street.
Discussion followed regarding the mural requirements. The board was agreeable to the
conditions of the draft, so Lashley will send it out for advertising.
H. Report on memberships to Americans for the Arts and Texans for the Arts. — Dana Mendrix.
Dana Hendrix reported that she purchased organizational memberships for the Arts & Culture
Board to Americans for the Arts and Texans for the Arts. Hendrix passed around membership
information (attached to these minutes) from the Americans for the Arts'website.

budget. — Lawren Weiss, Eric Lashley. Lawren Weiss reported expenses for the previous
month: $150 to Americans for the Arts for organizational membership, $100 to Texans for the
Arts for organizational membership, $104 to Roberts Printing for Arts & Culture Board
letterhead, $2-10 to Ideal Signs for Art Center banner for Quilt exhibit and $8.25 to GTX Awards
for a new board member name tag.
Consideration of dates of coming meetings., —Eric Lashley, The next Arts & Culture Board
meeting will be April 21, 2015 meeting.

Call to Artists: Mural Proiect
Project: Mural — 711 S. Main St.
The City of Georgetown's Arts and Culture Board is issuing a call for artist proposals for a mural to be
located on the rear wall of 711 S. Main Street, Georgetown, TX.
Mural Details:
The goal of the mural is to provide a piece of public art of interest to residents and visitors to the
downtown of Georgetown.
® The mural will be approximately 23 X 15 ft. (please see photo).
® The exterior wall is stucco.
® The mural should include the metal gutters, air conditioning unit, door, pipes, vent, and meters.
The address "711" is required to be on the door. The mural can incorporate the number 711 on
the door or should leave space to accommodate the address.
® The owner is open to ideas from artist, but prefers bright colors and a mural with a narrative.
The owner does not want a mural consisting of just geometrical shapes.
® The wall contains two windows. The owner is open to proposals incorporating the windows or
covering the windows in some fashion.
® Special note: The building is the oldest building on the historic downtown square. However, the
owner isn't requiring the mural refer to the history of the building or Georgetown in particular.
• There is no application fee.
Proposal Deadline: 5:00 P.M. Friday, April 24, 2015

Stipend:
Artist will receive $3,000 stipend.
Initial Payment: 50% of the stipend will be paid within two weeks of a signed letter of agreement. 50%
of the stipend will be paid upon completion of the mural.
Additional requirements:
Artist shall be responsible for preparation of the surface to ensure strong adhesion for durability and
longevity. This may include a primer and other preparation necessary for the optimum bond of the
paint to the wall.
Two applications (two coats) of Anti-Graffiti/ultraviolet protective coating must be applied on the
surface and top of the finished art that will provide resistance to vandalism and the weather. The mural
must be approved by Eric Lashley, Library Director, before this protective coating is applied.
Selection-
® The artist will be selected by members of the Georgetown Arts and Culture Board and the
owner of 711 S. Main St., Georgetown, TX 78626. The Board and owner will select a proposal
they feel fits the building and will provide a piece of public art of interest to residents and
visitors to downtown Georgetown.
Submissions must be received by 5:00 P.M. on Friday, April 24, 2015.
